Once the Beatles started doing drugs the music became classic rock. Psychedelic rock is pretty much a sub genre of classic rock. The Beatles toured with Jimi Hendrix and Clapton played on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Paul McCartney was inspired to write "Helter Skelter" after reading an interview with the Who's Pete Townshend where he described their September 1967 single, "I Can See for Miles", as the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded.

I would argue that Classic Rock and classic rock are two very different things, as are Pop and pop, alas it's a beautiful late smmer day and who am I to spoil it.

Just let it be known that I call classic rock simply rock. The term Classic Rock is reserved for sh't bands. And if you call Steely Dan classic rock I will punch you.

Do they have "classic rock" radio stations in Germany, @Gaucho ?
When I lived in Pittsburgh, WDVE was considered classic rock. Back in the late eighties, they played Led Zeppelin, The Who, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Boston, Journey, the Eagles, and so on. Classic rock stations today consider Nirvana, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and so on.
I can get behind your definition of Classic Rock though. I think Wings falls into that definition, even if I like a couple of their songs.

Oldies are Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Little Richard, etc. Maybe even late Big Band and girl groups of the early 60s.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The radio stations over here only know two genres: oldies and 80s.

The people who still listen to the radio are only interested in oldies or 80s music.
Seriously, though, radio? Come on guys.

I listen to the radio, but not for the music these days. Back in the late 80s and 90s there were some pretty cool indie/alternative/rap programs on German radio and also BFBS.

I've lived in my current radio market for 14 years and couldn't name three radio stations. It's NPR, SiriusXM, or MP3s for me.
Music Thread
Well I guess that's something

I gave up on radio outside of NPR a couple years ago. I keep my iPod Touch connected in my car at all times and just use that.

I have a Hamilton cd in the car and I don't remember listening to anything else but that in the last few months.

I just assumed that everybody was on a streaming service now. I haven't relied on CDs or mp3s in years.

I just bought keepers album from Merl saunders because my old one broke and you can't stream it for whatever reason. Felt very weird purchasing a cd.

Well, technically I use Apple Music which is streaming. I do have a bunch of uploaded music on that though.
My new car...doesn't have a CD player in it.
In fact, I have to use our PS3/PS4 for the few CDs my wife didn't make me get rid of a few years ago. Still pissed about that.
