Back to Amazon Music: I added 800 albums and 11.2K songs today. Also made some dodinting beef stroganoff.

Strong work.

New Beck and St. Vincent records are good.

Robert Plant's new record isn't terrible: he's still trying to push boundaries a bit.

Loving that Amazon thing. I was waiting for lunch earlier and thought about wanting to add a Sun Records compilation to the mix - boom 10 second operation from the app.

I liked a lot of it, but I tend to like mostly everything he does. He is on Howard Stern today and it's glorious.

We saw Brian Wilson this past Saturday night outdoors at the Pacific Amphitheatre. The show started with California Girls, followed by some other Beach Boys songs, and then they played Pet Sounds in its entirety. Pet Sounds was released 50 years ago, and from what I have learned, regarded as one of the most influential albums ever made. After Pet Sounds, they played Help Me Rhonda, Fun, Fun, Fun, Barbara Ann, and finished with Love and Mercy.

The lineup included original member Al Jardine, with an appearance from Blondie Chaplin. The entire band was tight, and it's funny how Brian sounds a little bit like Randy Newman.

It was a great sold-out concert of 8,000 people in attendance, with a pretty balanced mix of ages from the 20's to probably the 80's.

YouTube has the 2017 concert.

How exactly does this work?

To my surprise, I've downloaded new albums to my phone without having to pay for them (I think?) I'm still on the 4 month free trial of unlimited.

Search for albums (or songs) and click a button to add them to your personal library. That's about it. And, yes, you can download songs for offline use.

Did @Gaucho give us a review of the SWANS gig?

The 1990 version of me would kick the 2017 version of me in the ass if I ever said "Ministry show this weekend? Nah man, I'm gonna dogsit for my sister instead."

I could make it back in time for the show since I'm watching her dog on Friday and the drive back would be about 90ish minutes on Saturday, but TBH I'm not even interested. Had this discussion with FreeCandy on the twitter earlier in the week, and we're both agreed that Al's voice is gone.

There's a side of me that wanted to go for nostalgia, but Image. I don't even have the ambition to look for tickets.
or it's my grudge that the creative side of Ministry hasn't been in the band for well over a decade.

We saw feist earlier this month, it was pretty awesome. The only problem was she answered someone in the crowd when they yelled out, so nobody would shut the f*** up after that.

Dancing outdoors in SoCal listening to the Beach Boys live made it all so perfect.

Concert: 100% agree with this comment regarding band introductions. Love how they weave some other hits into the set:

As someone who was one of their biggest fans, I find the current SWANS lacking in everything but noise level. And Gira looks silly with his faux directing of the band.

I discovered Nigerian psych rock on this week's episode of Parts Unknown. Pretty unremarkable episode for food content, but the music scene in the late 60s and early 70s was really something else.

Here's the article from the behind the scenes website: https://explorepartsunknown.com/lagos/n ... d-to-know/

Pretty cool stuff.
