I saw her live once. Not my type of music, but she was pretty good.

I consider the girly sound tapes her best work, but I’m a big fan of 4 track lo-fi.

Yeah, things went downhill fast after Exile. I like Whip-Smart, though.

Saw this earlier today. Good stuff. Also, I finally figured out that Donald Glover and Childish Gambino are the same person. :face:

Some of his stuff is way too out there for me, but by and large I like his work. His stand up is goofy, but funny.

They were advertising him for his appearance on SNL. "Donald Glover will be hosting and special musical guest: Childish Gambino." I'd bet a large handful of people had no idea they were the same person until he started singing. His performance on SNL was really really good:

Moving this to the music thread, but this is one of my favorite concert videos of all time.

Gambino's new album sucks, but that's because he wanted to try something new. He's an excellent rapper, imo.

@Gaucho :

One of my favorite songs and singers. Question: are the "sinners" tempted or troubled or ???

They are troubled, burdened.

Pretty upsetting. I saw him play at CMU in 2008 or 2009, it was a great set. There's definitely a tinge of self loathing to a lot of his songs, looks like he lived that as well.

It's okay chillin music, but most of the time that I'm listening to music, I'm either driving long drives or working out and neither of those are conducive to chillin music, so with that respect, I agree. It's certainly different, though.

friend of mine can't stand Phil Collins, so I told him he was coming to Johnstown and created a somewhat passable photoshop of his tour announcement with an added tour date. Friend responds with "why the hell would he come here?" before he realized what I did.

Sadly, he has nerve damage in his back and no longer plays drums. His son is filling in for him on this tour.

In fact, he fell down and hurt his back further and did the South American leg sitting down on stage. 😢

He posted rehearsal footage late last year and while he sounded great, he looked miserable.

It sucks to get old.

Is that a step up or down from Smashmouth last year?
