Wow concert tickets got stupid expensive.

Trying to see Tyler Childers in Cleveland. Second market tickets are pushing $300 a pop.
did you by chance see what bruce is charging for his tour?
2/3k for floor and lower bowl
i saw bruce at the civic arena for 'the river' tour back in 1981 for twenty bucks

I'm surprised it was that much.

Whamageddon, the game I never knew I needed. Please baby Jesus get me to Christmas Eve....

This just started playing on my daughter’s random playlist while her and my wife make Christmas cookies. Gonna stream the Slayer/Wham mashup next…

I've never consciously heard that Wham song.

Mission accomplished. I have made it to December 24 in Whamageddon. As long as I don't say anything to an immediate family member I should get to Christmas Day.

I just read the 'official' rules for Whamageddon include "don't be a dick".

5:53 pm , 12/24/22, Mrs. F had told Alexa to “Play Christmas Music.” You can guess the rest.

Glad to see Greg Kurstin and Dave Grohl continuing the Hanukkah sessions they've done the last few years. This year, they performed them live with guests, instead of from Grohl's home studio.

This was pretty good:

That's a little club in LA called Largo. It used to be across the street from Canter's Deli in an area that's a hub of Hebrew culture in the city; it has relocated to a new spot about a mile away, but that name has a lot of resonance as a nod to the 8 crazy nights. (At least moreso than a house in the Encino hills)

Pink was the guest on night two, I think.

I've had a Sirius XM trial for like a month. I'm not sure why because we didn't pay for it. Anyways, I had about a 15 minute drive and was listening to the station that played new alternative or whatever. Heard Billie Ellish, Alvvays, soccer mommy, and something called hey, nothing.

Is it just me or does every god damn new band sound exactly the same these days? Or at least all these bands fronted by a mumbling female backed by some synthesizers and half asked guitar? Am I just old and out of touch, or does this music just stink

Like I get that if I'm listening to music for young people I should expect some angst. But cant you just be angsty differently than everyone else

oh man, i could go on and on about this and think the subject is segmented and doctoral thesis worthy.

back in the day the board at Hi didn't sound like the board at Stax, which was different than the board at Olympic, which was different than the board at Abbey Road.

there was the Detroit sound, and the Memphis sound, and the Philly sound, and the Cali vibe

the recording and mastering engineers were idiosyncratic as were the producers

nowadays its all digital, everyone's using the same plug-ins on the same settings thru the same daws and worst of all, it's quantized, the result being... most of it is pure shite

of course it's more nuanced than that and good music is still out there but 'commercial music'? **** that, it has been commodified and homogenized to sound like anywhere and 'anywhere' in this instance sucks

I think it’s why that scene from the Beatles movie where Paul mumbles his way to Get Back went viral. Music is made differently now. I watched some of the st Vincent masterclass on song writing, she is just sitting there on a computer talking about software ( I think, I actually forget everything besides just sitting at a computer and not at all talking about how she writes songs, I mean just say “it comes into my head because of how my brain works and I can’t teach anyone how to do that).

But yeah, song writing is just these types of people composing the whole song in their bedroom, so a lonely process that leads to mopey lyrics and vibes.

Have you ever seen the YTers who, for a laugh, quantize old Zeppelin songs? Just to hear what "When The Levee Breaks" sounds like "perfect". (lol)

If you haven't, spare yourself the grief.

Snapping John Bonham to a grid, even as a goof, the nerve..........................

Before break, my 10 year old came home sad from school because his music teacher yelled at him not to hit the drums so hard. He replied back, haven't you ever heard Bonzo play? I was so proud.
