I just listened to The Nightfly. So damn good.
Abraham Laboriel's bass line on New Frontier is going to be in my head indefinitely. What a bop.

Yeah I really like their early stuff, more recent output is very hit or miss for me.Radiohead's first three records are a progression of competent-incredible-genre altering. Then they started believing their own hype and I feel became massively less good, and have been pretty dull ever since.

I like Pablo Honey and The Bends, but IMO they hit their stride with OK Computer -> Amnesiac -> Kid A. They toured Europe while recording Amnesiac/Kid A and started to play the new songs. These shows ended up on file sharing sites, and it was really cool to hear the songs progress and compare them to the released versions.
As for Steely Dan, I blew my kids minds when I played Kid Charlemagne today - they know it from the sample in Kanye’s song Champion.

I like how the album they literally gave away for free was still the most illegally downloaded album of that year.

Where my fellow Eurovisionaries at? Semifinals 1 and 2 were earlier this week, with the grand finale on Saturday. Overall, it's not as strong of a field as the past two years, but there are still some solid entries.
Croatia is by far the most bonkers, both from a music and a performance standpoint:
Tough to pinpoint voting favorites, but I think Finland will end up placing very high:
And Belgium is a no-frills throwback bop:
Worth noting these are just the respective national finals performances. The ones from the actually comp this week are all bigger and better. If you have Peacock, I highly recommend checking out Croatia's performance in Semifinal one.
Oh and Austria submitted a song about Edgar Allen Poe that made the finals:

Nice, and prescient, too. I wonder what they had against Lou Reed?
I am decidedly not a fan, despite meeting him once upon a time, but Jimmy Buffett is in the hospital. Had to cancel his show in Charleston this weekend, which still had tickets available just a few days ago. His shows usually sell out months in advance, so I guess the Parrotheads are aging out of live shows as well.
