I have been on a big music appreciation kick lately. For the last couple days, I have been delving deep into the great black blues musicians of the early 20th century. T-Bone Walker, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, etc. I guess I had absolutely no idea how "modern" their music was for their era. Johnson in particular, what a guitarist.

Vai's connection to Zappa is one of my favorite guitar dude stories. :thumb:

If your singer is gonna come out on stage like this...

... your band had best bring it, both musically and in performance. And boy howdy do The Struts deliver.

I've heard nothing but good things about them live. They have a great sound.

George Michael the first time I saw your face. All of life would be safe from listening to his version

So there was a “viral” campaign to have Weezer cover “Africa” by Toto. A year passes, and Weezer tweets back to the kid that started the campaign...a video of the band’s cover of “Rosanna” by Toto. Epic troll job.

It's been a while since I've listened to this, but it was a pleasure going through it mowing the lawn yesterday

Sugar Ray will headline at the Three Rivers Regatta on Aug 3rd this year.
Is that a step up or down from Smashmouth last year?
For Sugar Ray, it's probably a step up from playing the Flood City Music Fest last year.

I didn't know whether to put this in the music thread, the beer thread, or current events.

You're a popular punk band who just got a deal with a pretty legit brewery and came up with a great concept of part craft beer fest and part punk show. How could you possibly f*ck this up?

Fat Mike: Hold my beer

https://pitchfork.com/news/nofx-lose-be ... -shooting/
During their set at the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday, NOFX made jokes about the horrific Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting on October 1 that left 58 people dead, Billboard reports. “I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you’re in a country band,” said guitarist Eric Melvin. “At least they were country fans and not punk rock fans,” frontman Fat Mike responded.

Stone Brewing Co.—the San Diego Brewery behind NOFX’s beer and music festival both called Punk in Drublic—has now distanced itself from the band, The Blast reports. “We at Stone Brewing are aware of NOFX’s insensitive and indefensible statements this past weekend. As a result, we are severing all our ties with NOFX, including festival sponsorship and the production of our collaboration beer,” a representative for the company said in a statement.
Amazingly poor timing, considering they were supposed to do the three day punk camp thing this weekend.
