Yeah I loved his last two albums but this one...it's still good, but not my favorite.Sturgil Simpson - Sound & Fury. I dig that he's doing his thing and there is a lot I liked about this album, but some of it is pretty forgettable for me.

Music is so great.
I am having the worst few months of my professional life. My department has been chronically understaffed, under budgeted, our college president was forced to resign, and I've had some minor health issues that won't go away (back/neck pain and bronchitis that won't go away, and both issues keep me from sleeping well). It's been a struggle.
I was exhausted and feeling like dogshit last night - my birthday - and stumbled upon a Bruce Hornsby video of a bluegrass version of Mandolin Rain from a recent live show. It was excellent, and come to find out he recorded an album in 2007 with Ricky Skaggs. On which they recorded a bluegrass version of Super Freak. Yes, that Super Freak.
This made me smile for the first time in weeks:
Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it's just what I needed. Love how music can do that.

Bruce Hornsby (and hell, Ricky Skaggs) are insanely talented. I was getting a major Gourds Gin and Juice vibe from that cover.

I feel like both of these songs aren't played enough on the radio

You are correct, but are they played at all on the radio?
Sirius now has George Michael radio. I repeat, Sirius now has George Michael radio!

Waaaaaay back in the days of mullets and hi-top fades, I was trying to get into the marine biology program at THE University of Miami; I had been exchanging letters with a faculty member there called Sam Gruber for a few years, and had a bit of an 'in'. When I initially applied and filled out the personal interests section of the paperwork, I noted that I was a musician. Sure enough, a few weeks later I get a letter in the mail from UM alum Mr Bruce Hornsby shilling for the school, and wishing me luck in the application process. I'm sure the letter is somewhere near the blue water tower atop 1st and Maple in Altoona in Mama Tif's personal vault of memorabilia.Bruce Hornsby...

Reposting my favorite NY video of all time. The crowd shots are so well done. Love the guy with a Skynyrd memorial tattoo...not to mention the black librarian-looking lady in the FRONT ROW completely rocking out. Awesome.

As a non-Scot, is the "absolute sht" good or bad? I looked at the pictures and was blown away by how awesome it was. I never realize how much I love model trains/towns until I see them.

You should go down the YouTube rabbit hole of watching scale modelers go through their builds.

1) I finally figured out where DG lives.
2) Sorry man. Big ups that things improve.
3) That Ricky Skaggs/Bruce stuff is monumentally fantastic.

I had the same thought until I noticed "the" in front of "absolute ****".
I think he means it's good .
