Kim Gordon in the 70s. Kim Gordon listened to a lot of Joni Mitchell back then. Her band Sonic Youth would later record a song called Hey Joni. Like Joni Mitchell, Sonic Youth used a lot of alternate tunings.

Jimi Hendrix covered Joni Micthell's song "Woodstock", which was later released on his posthumous album Both Sides of the Sky. YouTube failed me, so here is Joni's version.

St Anger is a terrible album so I have to assume this interview is BS

I never bothered to check it out.

The album or the interview?
The snare sounds like an empty coffee can.

Both.

I did read the interview now. Worthwhile.

I should put this in the bad take thread...Bridgers: Also, St. Anger is a great record. It might have been the first Metallica album I heard.

Phoebe Bridgers has a Christmas song, which is good.
It is not a cover of Joni Mitchell's River, however.
I can play too!

TIL that Bill Payne, of Little Feat, played keyboards on Momentary Lapse of Reason, the first Pink Floyd album without Roger Waters because Rick Wright was out of practice and legally couldn’t play as a member of Floyd for a period of time during the recording. Jim Keltner and Carmen Appice were used during the recording because Nick Mason was uncomfortable with his drumming ability after not having played much since The Final Cut sessions.
Incidentally, Joni Mitchell sang a cover of Pink Floyd’s Goodbye Blue Sky for Roger Waters The Wall Live at the Berlin Wall concert in 1990.

Joni Mitchell wrote a song about someone who bet money on the Maple Leafs
@Gaucho I know she was writing about a boyfriend...who?

Easily the weakest song on Court & Spark.

Vinnie Paul (Abbott) said in an interview that if he was the producer and the band insisted on that noise, he'd have finished his involvement and waived his credit - and the royalty points - to keep his name off the record. That is just ugly. The album or the interview?

Yup. By that point Bob Rock was basically a member of the band. I haven't seen Some Kind of Monster in a while and don't recall a discussion from it about the snare.Vinnie Paul (Abbott) said in an interview that if he was the producer and the band insisted on that noise, he'd have finished his involvement and waived his credit - and the royalty points - to keep his name off the record. I do remember Kirk saying that he wasn't happy with the "no solo thing". That album was necessary to get Death Magnetic (which had its own production issues) but is overall a very good album.

Death Magnetic tour was the only time I've seen them live, so good vibes.

That's the last time I've been able to see them and it was in DC on inauguration weekend so they weren't allowed to bring any pyro into the city. It made the show different for sure.Death Magnetic tour was the only time I've seen them live, so good vibes.

Speaking of December, here is Joni Mitchell's Winter Lady, not to be confused with Leonard Cohen's song of the same name, which, frankly, is even better, and featured in Robert Altman's terrific western McCabe & Mrs. Miller.
