That was fun, but man, my throat hurts just listening to it.

I know absolutely nothing about music theory, instrumentation, composition, or technique, but this series that this guy does is extremely interesting.
This one is "Spoonman".

I've subscribed to Rick Beato's channel for a while. His son has perfect pitch, and it's kind of annoying lol. He has a short series where he breaks down film scores and stuff. You should poke around his channel, good stuff.

I might be too old to rage against the machine, but for those who aren’t, they announced a new tour today including a stop in Pittsburgh on July 31.

Oh and tickets START at $125. They’ve become the very machine they once raged against.

Some of the proceeds are going to charity though.

That can't be face value. Tickets don't even go on sale for three more days; if you're seeing a price now it's from a reseller that's going to load up on bot-purchased tix on Thursday AM.
Bands don't have any real control over face value pricing, and what influence they can exert pretty much evaporates on the resale market. They don't even have as much control over their own merch prices as they used to.

Didn't somebody make a similar comment when they were signed by Sony or a label under the Sony family? I want to say it was either Cypress Hill or Suicidal Tendencies.I might be too old to rage against the machine, but for those who aren’t, they announced a new tour today including a stop in Pittsburgh on July 31.

The only label Rage was ever on was Epic (which is Columbia/Sony).
And I would hope no one from Cypress Hill ever threw shade at RATM considering B-Real was in Prophets Of Rage.

I saw the prices on Reddit so yeah they're probably aftermarket and I didn't realize it. I'm sure it will be a fun show, I just have trouble picturing them being in their 50s and still playing the same style of music.
Just to be clear, I was a fan around the time Evil Empire came out, though I was probably more in the age of their target demographic for the Battle of Los Angeles.

My son wants to go to this, might be his first concert if we can get tickets. Plus, he likes the opening act. I haven't been to an arena show in forever lol.
Music Thread
I've been to a few and the only one that felt like an actual concert was front row of Pearl Jam. The rest I may as well have been watching on TV with a really terrible and echo-y sound system.
Music Thread
Phish does a really good in-arena show. They really know how to work the sound.

My last arena show might be the Allman Brothers back in 1994.
I've been to stadium, amphitheatre, and small theater/club shows since then.

I went to a festival probably 4-5 years ago that had a Run the Jewels set. Zach De La Rocha came out for one song and killed it, he's definitely still got it.I saw the prices on Reddit so yeah they're probably aftermarket and I didn't realize it. I'm sure it will be a fun show, I just have trouble picturing them being in their 50s and still playing the same style of music.

I also saw Rancid this past summer, they were old and awesome.
I think this 40's-'50's age range is fine, it's when you get into the Bob Dylan/Rolling Stones tour where it's like, ok these are geezers.

It's not just the age. It's the age plus their songs. I just think a dude in his 50s yelling "**** you, I won't do what you tell me" is a bit silly.

A local radio station played the unedited Killing In The Name once and got fined by the FCC for each of the 16 consecutive "f**k you I won't do what you tell me" refrains, + the 1 'motherf**ker' that closes out the vox. Maybe I'm making that up, I don't remember.

I think I posted the relevant video, but I may be making that up, too.

Should clarify, De La Rocha was great for that Run the Jewels song, I don't really care that much about RATM.It's not just the age. It's the age plus their songs. I just think a dude in his 50s yelling "**** you, I won't do what you tell me" is a bit silly.

This is an ear worm that I 've been hearing, mostly subconsciously, for a few months now and it's insidious.

When I woke up today, I had no intention on going to see Rage and Run The Jewels. Several hours later, I ended up getting a ticket.
Coworker told me he was in the queue and was at 2000+, so after about 10 minutes of telling him that I missed out on seeing them and House Of Pain in Tijuana in 93, I semi-jokingly told him I was heading back to see if I could get Rage tickets (he had since closed out of his window.)
So I get back to my desk and signed on, it was the same deal: I was 2000+ in the queue. After about 5-10 minutes, the numbers started dropping and dropping quickly. 1450, 1100, 640. I figured I was in this far, why not hang around and see what's available? Next update was 1. I was next in line. OK, I'll humor myself and see how much lowers are going for. There were two in 115 that were front row and on the aisle. Before I could even click on them, they were gone. They are now listed as charity tickets and are going for 4x face. The last lower that I saw was also in 115, top row. I managed to grab it for $125.

I don't really know if anyone here besides me is a jazz afficionado but it occurred to me today that Pittsburgh is really an underrated cradle of jazz musicians.
Art Blakey
Stanley Turrentine
George Benson
Ahmad Jamal
Errol Garner
Billy Eckstine
Kenny Clarke
Roy Eldridge
Pretty impressive for a city not especially known for its jazz scene..... I mean some of huge names of jazz were born and got their starts playing here. I mean... Art Freakin' Blakey

Dakota Staton as well.
(My dad met her back at a WQED/Pitt function back when we lived there in the late 80s. He was a big fan of hers and was blown away to meet her and Fred Rogers on the same day).
