Had a few jam sessions recently with my bass playing friend and a few others.
Last night was pure hose, and we had 3 or 4 separate jams that all came back together and ended on the same phrase, which doesn't happen a lot.
All we need is a dedicated drummer, and I think we have something here.

so I'm not sure where I stand on this. I've been a Social D fan since high school, but I'm also of the mindset that I didn't pay $40-50 to listen to you rant on current events. Maybe rant isn't the right word. It only says in the article that he was "badmouthing Trump and America", which for all we know could have been one or two sentences. So this dude decides he had enough of Ness ranting about Trump and flies the finger for the next two songs. Apparently this is enough to cause Ness to jump off the stage, approach the dude, and punch him in the face several times.

Let me get this straight-a heckler at a punk show received a few punches to the face.

Wait, so a dude got pissed because a punk bad got political?
I don't want to say he deserved to be punched in the face, but that's probably the dumbest complaint I've heard in a while.

I've never been into punk or hardcore, but my outside impression is that there's sort of an implied understanding - if not outright expectation - that someone from the band might get physically violent with members of the crowd. Like, that's the social contract of the genre.

If you attend a Social D concert and are shocked they discuss politics, when then you aren't that familiar with the band.

Yes, I'm not sure what he was expecting from a punk band with a heyday in the 80s. That said, the singer was entirely out of line...be a fcking professional.Wait, so a dude got pissed because a punk bad got political?

Nah, I've seen bands go ape **** over hecklers. Going out and confronting a heckler like that is not new.Yes, I'm not sure what he was expecting from a punk band with a heyday in the 80s. In the 80s or even the early 90s, then yes. With certain bands, I would have been more surprised if it didn't happen. Not saying I agree with it or not, but like you said, social contract, part of the scene, etc. etc.I've never been into punk or hardcore, but my outside impression is that there's sort of an implied understanding - if not outright expectation - that someone from the band might get physically violent with members of the crowd. The last time they played Pittsburgh, I don't remember him going on the soapbox about Trump. I remember them kinda buzzing through their set. Even last year, he admitted as previously being not political to the point of picking a side, and would tell people to go out and at least vote, which of course changed when Trump took office.Yes, I'm not sure what he was expecting from a punk band with a heyday in the 80s. http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/music/20 ... 1708010015It’s interesting, because, I’m not a flag waver. Years ago, I was just encouraging people to vote, not telling them left or right, but vote, be a part of the process. But lately I’ve just been throwing it out there. Last night in Milwaukee, no one wanted to say what was on their mind. It was so weird. It was like a touchy subject or something. But I [he pauses] I don’t like the president. Beyond his annoying personality, he’s just put in there to do something. It’s not his fault. I mean, it is his fault that he has an annoying personality.

Would've rather they had Prince instead of MJ, but still. Nice tribute.

Well, even in 2010. Randy Blythe (Lamb of God singer) was tried for manslaughter. (recalled this because that group just played in my neck of the woods last week):In the 80s or even the early 90s, then yes. With certain bands, I would have been more surprised if it didn't happen. Lennon was an egomaniac, so replace him with Prince.

Not sure if I'm more shocked that:
a) this jersey exists (edit: original thought was that he didn't play there until well after 2001, but it looks like he had a show on 2/26/01)
b) that it's listed on eBay
c) there's an actual bid of $100 for it.

Great feature in RS about Baltimore's own Crack the Sky:

Prog rock is not always my thing, but I dig their sound.

Been listening to Depeche Mode probably more than my family would like, but they are amazing and I feel like I've missed something special by just getting into them now

whatever happened to them? Are they part of the 90s reunion tour?
Wikipedia showed them being active in 2017 with no new material listed, so I'm assuming they toured.

While that picture is the inside of a cello, it looks sort of like the Map Room of Tanis and the Well of Souls is just out of frame to the right.
