Postby King Colby » Wed Jul 01, 2015 10:34 am

I know if i dig on LGP or here i can probably gind some suggestions embedded in wedding related threads, but id like to ask again anyway.

Im currently trying to figure out groomsman gifts. Id love to hear what you men did/didnt do, how it went over, what you wish you did, etc.

FWIW i have 8 groomsmen and im not too worried about the money. Ill splurge a bit for my best friends and family.

I bought my groomsmen (only had 3, but I included our officiant as well as he's a close friend of my wife, so 4) Flasks with their names engraved on them. I made book safes for each of them (went to goodwill and bought random books for like a dollar each) to hold the flasks, and also filled the flasks with scotch. I also bought them each a pair of matching socks that we all wore for the wedding day.

They all loved the flasks and book safes. The scotch, meh. My best man and I ended up drinking their shares... lol. They also liked the socks, so that was a cool thing, we had the wedding photographer snap a pic of all of us with our tux pants hiked up.

I was fortunate that the Steelers wont he Super Bowl a few months before my wedding. So I got mine a nice Super Bowl Champion Mug/shot glass set and the best man a nice Super Bowl plaque to hang on his wall.

I've gotten things that range from the usual engraved flasks, beer mugs, bar sets, to a nice grill set for a summer wedding, poker chip set, and favorite college football jersey (I got Pitt, each groomsman got their favorite jersey).

I gave mine Citizen watches, flasks are another great idea as noted above.

A friend gave us a rolling cooler with a case of our favorite beers inside. (Still have the cooler, beer is long gone.)

Im thinking of doing a basket with maybe 100 worth of stuff in each. Couple cigars, favorite six pack, tie and socks for the wedding, but that gets me about halfway there. I dont like the flask idea bc i wouldnt use one ever and i doubt they would.

I took my 4 to a Pens game in Columbus and paid for everything. I like the idea of doing an event rather than an actual physical gift.

I feel like Steelers stuff would be pretty tacky.

The last wedding I was in, the groom gave us Members Only jackets...that has turned out to be a useful gift.

We were in our early 20s and that was good for us. Steelers beer mug, bottle opener, terrible towel, and gift card to the Steelers store.

He probably wouldn't give that out now. But 10-15 years ago that was a great gift.

A wedding I was in a couple years ago, the groom bought us beer mugs emblazoned with our name and our favorite sports team logo on it. So I have a nice Penguins beer mug in my cabinet.

Have been best man twice, and was in three other wedding parties. Got a travel grooming kit the first time (1995-ish) that I still use today. Honestly don't remember what the second guy got me. Haven't gotten a gift for the other involvement.

I got my groomsmen pretty nice bottles of whatever their liquor of choice was (i.e. tequila, scotch, etc. in the $60-70 range). That seemed to be pretty well received.

I've been a groomsman 4 or 5 times now and can't remember all of the gifts I got. I know one friend copied me and gave me the same type of tequila I gave him. I might have gotten a flask too at some point.

Good night....I need to be a groomsman at y'alls weddings.

The best thing I ever got was a picture frame and a beer mug.

That's interesting...I've never heard of giving the best man a better gift than the other groomsmen.
