All uphill from here!

Longer days are here!
Starting today, the days will start to get shorter. Slowly, at first, but as we move into August, the earlier sunsets will become more and more noticeable. Soon, the Long Night will be upon us.

Good. Trying to get a 4 year old to go to sleep while it is still light outside can be a nightmare.

You know BJ's post is from Dec 2015 (the winter solstice), right?

It was the first post on the new page, so the timing was impeccable. In any event my statement stands.

Sat outside last night, got bit by mosquitoes, and enjoyed some quality time with the beardog.

Going to the bucco game tonight.

The latest sunset (at least in the eastern time zone) around the summer solstice is probably Marquette, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. Sets at 9:46 PM today, so twilight probably lasts until 11 PM or so.
Was in Traverse City a few years ago for work and there was still signs of light at 11:15 pm. I want to say it was even later into summer, like early August. Google lists their current sunset time as 9:32.

Heading up there on Monday for another work-related trip, so I'll be sure to post an update.

Shortest day of the year, ballers. Gonna celebrate it by taking the beardog for a walk and hopefully not being too cold.

Summer is on its way chumps

Nice pic. One of my favorite things about driving home from work during the winter is getting a nice, unspoiled view at dusk driving through farmland.

Edit: this gentleman has been sharing celebratory solstice posts with you nerds since 2012.
