speaking of woodsons and hooters, can we just consider station square as a place that Pittsburgh residents don't actually visit? it is essentially defunct as a destination for residents
Agreed. Along those same lines, I went to South Side Works a few weeks ago. It's a ghost town.

I'm sure everyone has seen this already, but... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H7ytZW ... wchPJGJ3IQ

I went there to pick up some shoes last Christmas. It was terrifying.

I miss the old Pizza Hut

My hometown Pizza Hut also had an awesome Ms Pacman Cocktail Cabinet that we could play while waiting for our food.

Not kidding when I say that some activist tried to kill Book-It because they said pizza should not be used as a reward for reading, claiming that it taught kids a poor food habits. :face:

No idea what PH did about that, if anything.

@robbiestoupe @Troy Loney

There was a Murphy's where the WalMart is on Library Road. One could go through open double doors to go the Giant Eagle and back.
There used to be Murphy's on Main Street in Greenburg. When we were young, my mom would go shopping on Main Street on Saturdays. We'd all have lunch at Murphy's lunch counter. They made some of the best hamburgers I ever ate.

I don't remember Murphy's. I remember getting Pentech pencils at Woolworths in SH Village mall for pencil fighting.

For like three decades, Pizza Hut was the largest consumer of kale in the United States (and probably the world). Kale never appeared on a Pizza Hut menu item, it was used solely to decorate the salad bars.

At the right temperature (HOT), they had a certain appeal.

Definitely. The only way I eat Pizza Hut is if I'm sitting down in the restaurant.

I had my 10th birthday party at Aladdin's Castle and was the coolest kid in 5th grade for one night. Most of the party was gathered around the Mortal Kombat II cabinet.

Some of us are old enough to remember shopping at A&P.

Basically any old brick building with a white cupola and weather vane on top used to be one. There are still dozens around the Pittsburgh area.

I loved Book-It, and last I checked still had the certificate.

Going back to the mall thing...yeah, I'm definitely sad about malls going away. That said, there are some malls that will survive a loooooooong time. The key is to not have oversaturation. The Logan Valley Mall in Altoona remains busy because it's the only game in town for a lot of those stores. KoP certainly ain't going anywhere.

LVM..... Shaf, do you remember the new food court between Penny's and Sears by Champ Sports? There was a place there that sold cheesesteak sandwiches (like on actual square pieces of bread), and had bomb-ass cheesecake....... I still have fond memories of that place.
