What are some places that are either defunct or had a name change that you were fond of during their existence, or at a minimum make you snicker when thinking about them?

My favorites:

1. Hills
2. Italian Oven
3. Phar-Mor
4. Lazarus
5. Pizza Outlet

Not completely defunct, but Conneaut Lake Park. Place is a dump compared to what it was when I was a kid.

What was the fast-food BBQ type place?

Rexy's? I can't remember, but my cousin worked there.

Hi-Way Drive-In Rt.30 in Latrobe. Now it's a **** Walgreens.

Though I used it more for the flea market than for movies. Used to hunt for Atari/Nintendo stuff.

What about places that have no business being around anymore:

Long John Silver
Foodland/Shop and Save
Fox's Pizza

Bland's Park (now called Delgrosso's)
Miska's Jewelry (bought my wife's engagement ring there... 2 years later, the owner decided to close up shop and retire)
Myspace (remember "top friends" and of course you could have a song on your profile as well as sweet layouts and colors and whatnot)

Agree with Rax and their chocolate chip shakes. There may or may not still be Rax out there. Their web page is down which is not a good sign.

Otherwise mostly the Discount/Department stores that were around before it became just Target, Wally World and Kmart, and on the higher end Macy's bought everyone out.

Hills
Zayre
Bradlees
Caldor
Ames (wow were Ames stores crummy)

Horne's
Kauffman's

Heck even Zeller's in Canada is defunkdafied. Sold out to Target now Target is pulling out of Canada.

I think there was a Rax over by Kennywood that hung around forever. That's the only one I ever remember. I feel like if you drove around the west mifflin, century three part of the mon valley, it would be like traveling back to 1992.

Jamesway. Specifically the Jamesway Diner. When I would visit my Gram and Pap they'd always take me to Jamesway Diner and then into the store to pick out a toy, usually an RC car. I know it's dumb but I have really fond memories of that place. It eventually became the Shop'N Save on Rt.30 in Latrobe and is a Dunhams(sp?) Sports store now. When I worked at that Shop'N Save there was an old Jamesway phone directory hung on a pole in the deep freezer.

Chi Chi's and ESPN zone are the highlights from the wiki list.

Old Country Buffet has to be no more right? Also, how are Bob Evans and Hoss' still around?

There used to be one in the parking lot of Murphy Mart/Giant Eagle on Library Road which is now a Wendys.
