I've never been particularly fond of them, but a tie bar would also hold a tie fairly rigidly in place. I totally see an application for a no-slack tie for some folks. For example, if a doctor is wearing a tie, he might want to make sure it stays attached to his shirt so that it doesn't come in contact with the patient when he leans over, such as during a physical examination. Some police uniforms include ties, and they wouldn't want the tie blowing around in the wind and the like, so a tie bar or button-down would be handy.

Then I'm shocked someone here has met two people that wear them with jeans.

On the rare occasion I wear a suit, a tie bar is part of the ensemble.

I rarely wear a tie bar because I feel like it marks my ties up.

Just ordered 2 flannels, a quarter zip sweater and 6 dress shirts from JCP, free shipping to the house (double checked the shipping address this time) for $110. No too shabby....

I love tie bars and have been searching for something to store them in for a long time but have never found anything. They make stuff for cuff links and the likes. I want tie bar equality.

Can't you just hang them from an old tie?

I suppose but I guess I always wanted a "jewelry box" so to speak for them.

I suppose something like this would ultimately work. I'm just surprised something doesn't exist specifically for tie bars.

The Tie Bar has come out with a pretty extensive collection of tie bars:

Having a weird little crisis:

(Not me, duh). Can I wear a belt that color with pants that color? My gut says no but I really want to. It would be with a light blue button down shirt and shoes that match the belt. I laid out black belt/shoes but I want the brown. My pants are a dress pant but are the same basic color as that photo.

I mentioned it a long while back in the thread, regarding sport jacket and brown pants, but for some reason I have a hard fast rule in my head about mixing browns.

This gentleman feels like unless you are wearing black pants and shoes, a black belt says "I don't know any better"

Just one marsupial's opinion

I wear a brown belt and brown shoes almost every single day. Granted I generally wear jeans and a button down and/or sweater to work.

Even with navy or grey? I wear black belt and shoes for those colors.

I was going to say the same. Gray pants, white shirt w/thin gray stripes, black shoes/belt, happens about once a week in my world.
