I'm not entirely sure either. He's a big dude, but IIRC i've heard him speak on the mic maybe twice, and it's been bland.

I may have missed something but it just feels like another forced version of Goldberg.

Wardlow has kind of organically grown and had a slow burn with the turn on MJF. He's only really had one long bit of promo time recently, but he's improved from where he was there and in the ring. He's over like rover because of how they've done his buildup and booking. He's one of the few I've think they have done everything right with as far as the time and how they've built him up.

He's still a big dude that is gonna have a hoss type match, but to compare him to Goldberg is underselling him a bit IMO.

I didn't see Dynamite last night yet so need to watch, but it sounds like the women got the main even but got shafted on time and didn't have a great match.

Wardlow isn't going to make anyone forget Bryan Danielson or anything, but comparing to Goldberg isnt fair... He actually knows more than 2 moves and hasn't injured anyone.

I don't know that he has a super high ceiling, but they've been building to this feud for well over a year. MJF is such an amazing heel that people can't wait for him to get his comeuppance no matter who it is.

Time will tell what happens to Wardlow after that.

The comparison is just a big dude who doesn't talk and is being pushed to the moon, not really his wrestling skill. But again, I'm not a hardcore fan. I don't generally watch Rampage or Dark so I've probably missed what makes Wardlow special but I'm totally uninterested in his character and his matches. I just don't get it.

I also don't understand the Hook love either.

Hook is definitely somewhat of a meme... If you weren't watching long term probably wouldn't have much impact. He's also mainly been on Rampage until recently.

I'm enjoying the interactions with Danhausen but this is admittedly two niche characters that are not for everyone.

I never watch any Dark either so it's a bit annoying that it's treated as canon... People you see once a month on Dynamite somehow have 40 wins and ****...

I only know Danhausen from his YouTube channel but he's great. I've seen him on Dynamite a few times and it's really strange how AEW has done next to nothing to build his character and just assumes you know who he is and why he's there and how he curses people and stuff. Has he wrestled yet? I know he had a broken leg not too long ago so I'm not sure if he's cleared. Actually, come to think of it, I've never actually seen a Danhausen match.

That is a problem AEW has they introduce characters that are only known from youtube, or other promotions and except the non hardcore fan to know who they are. They need to be better with that in general.

Hook is still Tazz light. They really need to figure out a way to separate him from that information.

Danhausen broke his leg on Halloween. Not sure when he will be ready to wrestle. He's moving around a lot better now though so that's good.

I've only ever seen a clip of one Danhausen match but it was kind of hilarious.

He was wrestling some dude in ROH and was hiding under the apron for some reason. The other dude got a mic and started complaining about how he was a former champ and was annoyed that he had to fight this total joke.

At that point, Danhausen popped his head out from under the apron and went ahhhhh and the due tried to do a leg drop but Danhausen bailed and the dude wiped himself out.

I know his gimmick is a jar of teeth that he dumps in someone's mouth and then he does the go to sleep on them.

IIRC Danhausen wrestled in a tag match on an indy card a few weeks ago.

Yeah that's my biggest issue with AEW. The storytelling needs some work. I'm not sure what most of the feuds are about and they also seem to use the whole worked shoot thing a bit too often, especially with the former Fed guys. I'd also like to see more in-ring storytelling/psychology. Spot fests can be tons of fun but if every match is a spot fest then nothing feels special. Punk and Danielson definitely work a slower more WWE style match. More of that, please.

That said, Dynamite is a million times more watchable than Raw.

That’s my biggest gripe. Every single match with popular wrestler is a spot fest that makes sure everyone heel and face gets their moves in.

It’s predictable.

WWE is experimenting with pumping the commentary through the arena PA for the live audience. Do not like.

I was going to put Backlash on in the background but the opening promo package is too much. Seth 'freakin' Rollins is a terrible gimmick and he is beyond obnoxious... and Cody's promos already sound even more like a performance than they used to.

I don't care if this match is the second coming of Rock-Austin, I'm out.

I made the mistake of flipping it on during the pre-show and you would struggle to find a more feckless collection of talking heads than that, so I was already on edge.

I just started watching but Cody/Rollins was a very good match. I’ll skim through the rest tomorrow.

I heard that the matches were better than expected in most cases.

I just got overloaded on the WWE speak and couldn't deal with it. The prospect of listening to the raw commentary team after everything else I heard was a bit too much.

Honestly, that's still my gripe with AEW. Having these huge move spot fests is annoying.

1) Darby didn't need to do that on TV.
2) Darby DIDN'T NEED TO DO THAT PERIOD.
3) Someone should have vetoed Darby immediately upon hearing that could happen.

If you are going to do a spot like that (which you shouldn't) you save that for a PPV in a huge blowoff match. Even then...its a super stupid bump.
