I dont understand your point about this. None of this matters. We all know it is not a competitive sport in the traditional sense.

Its fun to talk about. No one is citing win-loss records here, so its not about it being "real", just that the metric is some combination of impact, performance in-ring, general popularity, mic skills, blah blah. That's it. No one is going to storm WWE HQ, I promise.

It's an entertainment hall of fame so it should be based on who was entertaining. Not who had title runs or meaningful feuds. **** Drew Carey is in the WWE HOF. Greg the **** Hammer Valentine is in the WWE HOF. The qualifications for the WWE HOF are simple. Did they entertain you? If you google them, will you see porn? Does the widow hate you because your negligence caused the death of her husband?

Yeah, this is where I am coming from. At the end of the day, I don't give a sht who is in the WWE HOF, but it is fun to talk about based on each of our own arbitrary standards as to what a HOF wrestler/manager/announcer/etc looks like. I don't think slappy, me, or anyone else are comparing it to Cooperstown or Canton.

Also, this isn't the professional wrestling hall of fame or the Cauliflower Alley Club. This is the WWE HOF which has decidedly different standards for inductees.

This would all be more relevant if we were talking about a real HOF.

All HOF's are subjective and no more "real" or meaningful than any others.

Most Hall of Fames have a selection committee whereas the WWEHOF is the whim of a geriatric jackhammer.

20 years to induct Bob Backlund is a bad look.
Backlund supposedly turned it down multiple times, but a bad look nonetheless.

Not at all. If this were a legit HOF*, then maybe the stuff I mentioned would be concerning. But like you said, it's fun to talk about and I had no idea the conversation was going to go to this level over Hillbilly Jim. :)
It's still real to me, dammit. There's a ceremony and even rings that are given out. ;)

Technically Scott Hall isn't even in the Hall of Fame. I'd put him in over HBJ.

The other HOFs are simply run by a few geriatric dipsticks as opposed to just one. You think that the NHL HOF is actually more legit than the WWE HOF? No.

I didn't even know this was a thing since I haven't watched Raw or Smackdown in months, but the trend of putting text/images on screen during promos/entrances is absolutely awful and I hope it dies.

Yeah, that's where I saw it. The most insulting thing about it is how poorly it's done.

I don't really care for deathmatch wrestling at all but this is an interesting watch into what goes into Tournament of Death for CZW. I respect what these guys put themselves through but don't really understand it. I can't even watch some of the stuff they do.

even knowing what that video would involve, I still watched it.

The sticks sticking out of the dude's head made me cringe, but that part at 28:40 where he's literally standing on the chair to get that piece out of that dude's head was where I drew the line and turned it off.

I have no respect for death match wrestling. It's a crutch for performers who have little to no skill. Actually hurting somebody is the complete opposite of true professional wrestling. The art and skill of it is moves that look brutal but are actually as safe as can be.

Also, look at the **** idiots at this bullshit show.

I always equate backyard wrestling as to guys who want to call themselves wrestlers but would rather focus on hardcore spots because they can't technically do anything else. So we agree.

It's probably one of the reasons why I love ECW so much. I like seeing guys being put through tables, etc - but ECW was full of technical wrestlers using hardcore moves but not as a crutch.

ECW at its peak had the perfect blend of technical wrestling and hardcore stuff. They walked the line about as good as you could with that stuff.

Well they drove from all over to a field in Delaware to watch so what kind of fansdo you think you are going to attract? haha Agree though.. they are the lowest of the low of professional wrestling fan. Live the stereotype of big dumb stupid and bloodthirsty.

I wonder how much those guys actually pull in a night for getting shards of glass stuck in them and stuff stuffed into their skulls etc.. it just doesn't seem to be worth it. The only guy that really came out of CZW or similar that made a name for himself was Ambrose. Obviously Funk and Foley did lots of IWA stuff and Japan stuff back in the day, but no one who does this stuff every really gets to the point where they can transition and make a living out of just wrestling and not the deathmatch stuff.

According to TMZ, police say Jeff Hardy submitted to a breath test before his arrest on Saturday and blew a .25 -- more than three times the legal limit.
