That was a pretty damn good episode overall. Moxley just slayed it. Got the unexpected Hangman-Danielson III... even if Jericho spoiled the outcome.
I don't love Sammy being given a chance in the tourney after literally dropping Ruby Soho on her neck like a sack of **** on Sunday and his promos suck balls... but I'm sure his match with Darby will be a spectacle nonetheless. First to not die wins.
Obviously Moxley is going to be in the finals... wonder if they will go Jericho or Danielson though. Jericho being the heel kind of makes more sense, but would really suck for Danielson to lose to him twice in a row.

Last night basically felt like a reset...which was needed after what happened. There is clearly still more than enough great talent to carry the shows.
Still not sure why there couldn't have been another women's match last night. If there was ever a chance to do it last night was it. They had one match and the 30 second teaser of Britt and Jamie having issues with no follow-up.

Yeah, Tony talked about how All Out was going to be a "reset" on the women's division, but looking at what he booked for Dynamite and Rampage, not so sure.
The match last night was fine. Serena Deeb is great, but she's going to be wrestling Madison Rayne who has not looked good at all in the matches she's had so far.
Doesn't seem like much of a reset to me...
Otherwise though, it was a pretty good show, and a pretty clear message to fans and talent alike that they can still do a great show even without Punk + the Elite.
Speaking of Punk, according to Meltzer he will be sidelined 6-8 months... If he even comes back, and notes that a lot of people don't want him back.

I think / hope Punk realizes during that time that he either needs to change his tune dramatically (lol), or just fade off into the sunset saying his body couldn't handle it anymore, even though he was a **** heel.

Punk has never been able to see his own faults. It’s always somebody else’s problem. There’s a much higher chance that he realizes his body just can’t handle wrestling anymore. 2 time champ with a combined 7 day reign.

I'd say the Unification squash match counts as a defense. But it's still wild how poorly this went.
They should just agree for him to quietly walk away. Even if they can smooth things over (doubtful), his body is clearly failing him.

I'm sure he 1000% believes he's the victim here and everything he did on Sunday is a total justification of it. Dude tanked his reputation majorly, and he probably won't be remembered fondly.

Punk has always been a miserable and stand off ish SOB. That's just him. He's a dick. A dick who knows wrestling very well, and is very good at it, but a huge dick none the less. I don't think he'd say any different either to be honest. If he is really out 6ish months thats a long time to cool off and come back with a cooler head, but I don't know if he is capable of that, or even wants to at this point.
With that said.... There is still money to be made though on a big blow off down the road though if they really want to do it. You can't put the title on him again though for obvious reasons.
It was nice to have a dynamite that focused (mostly) on AEW originals or ones that were at least there when AEW first started. They have a huge roster of great wrestlers to pull from, and not having Punk or the Elite isn't a deathknell. If anything it hopefully pushes TK to really give the Acclaimed, Garcia, Starks, etc a big push to really build the future of the company.
The booking/handling of the women's divisions till sucks though and it needs to be better.

I've always contended that they cooled themselves off by hiring every WWE star that was released for a time.
I don't think they needed Punk/Bryan - but Bryan has at least kept quiet and helped the company out completely. They had such a cool thing going with young guys, that they could still do that. Just it caused intentional cooling.

The Colt Cabana podcast happened in 2014. The lawsuits happened in 2018. Punk still hasn’t cooled off on it. I don’t think 6 months will help.

Exactly. Punk takes grudges to the grave, which is why I think his time is up, and he's one of the few guys who may have burned permanent bridges in wrestling.

Well you can keep someone hot forever. You gotta cook them off to warm them back up.I've always contended that they cooled themselves off by hiring every WWE star that was released for a time.

If it's pre-meditated by Punk, that's even lower class than I thought and he indeed should be let go.
Also, someone pulling Omega's hair is very funny to me.

So Sammy almost kills Ruby Soho on Sunday, and gets to not only compete in the champions tournament, but win, of course with the same old JAS BS. Granted, the winner of this match is just getting sacrificed to Moxley, but glad to see practically killing someone in the ring has consequences.
Wasn't even a particularly interesting match. All Sammy does at this point is get "surprise" cutters off of all of his opponent's moves, and then wins by the same old ref distraction/interreference combo. Meh.

Be curious if they have Hayter interact with Britt at all during the tag match to further build their divide.

I hope Danielson gets a run with the title, I assume they are building to a Mox/Danielson final at this point so we shall see. If Mox ever wants to go on that planned vacation he had before Punk decided to be a dick he can't win the title back haha.

100% want to see Danielson win it and get a run. Wouldn't hate more Mox but let the guy take a break.
Really don't want to see Jericho with the belt now. The last thing they need is an obnoxious heel champion right now.
