Maybe punk wasn't fully recovered and they wanted to get the belt off of him.

I honestly have no idea.

It makes no sense... if he was too hurt, you just don't bring him back... if it's a work... why now?

Yeah no idea. I'm honestly at a loss. I mean I'm glad they did what was essentially a squash on tv and not at the ppv.

With that said I'm still just really confused.

It's crazy that we may get All Out in Chicago with no Punk.

Unexpected outcome as well. Should be a pretty damn good semi-final match next week too.

That was legit a 5 star match. Holy **** across the board. I said holy **** about 15 times.

Ospreay is probably the best in the world right now.

If we somehow get to Omega vs Ospreay and Kenny is healthy.....oh boy.

That trios match next week will be great.

Meltzer is reporting that the Moxley-Punk rematch is supposed to main event All Out.

If this is the case, it is going to be something to see how they explain what happened last night.

It doesn't make sense to do it that soon. I mean my thought was they were doing this because Punk was more injured than they thought and they didn't want Mox to have to be "interim" champ for a long period of time. With that being the case they have Punk "hurt" his foot in the match and Mox beats him based on Punk being "injured". That way Mox gets his run as the true champ while Punk rehabs.

Once Punk gets fully healthy you can build to that rematch and have Mox defend in the meantime. If they are just doing the rematch at All Out though.. I don't get it.

I also noticed after rewatching that the foot that punk grabs is not the foot he kicked Mox with, but the foot he planted on. I'm assuming that was on purpose, but who knows.

Ospreay was on fire last night. Everyone in that trios match was, but Ospreay is on another level. Just incredible to watch.

Him and Kenny is a huge big time money match. We shall see how they go about building to that.

"Obviously, the big news before tonight's AEW Dynamite taping is that Tony Khan and AEW management held a meeting with talent before the show.

Khan, who we were told was very animated and impassioned, broke down a lot of the new systems and structures recently implemented (e.g., expansion of talent relations and development) and how they are in place to make things better for the talents.

Khan also made it clear that AEW was in an industry "that has long been dominated by WWE", and that he had put everything into it to make things better for the talents. Khan also stated that right before the meeting took place, AEW's Megha Parekh, the Chief Legal Officer for the company, who is effectively the #2 in the promotion's hierarchy, sent an email to WWE's Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon warning them "not to tamper" with his talent.

Don't you dare call our independent contractors to ask them about their contracts despite there being no law against doing so or else. I have to imagine that's not very encouraging for AEW wrestlers. There's nothing illegal about one company calling somebody and saying "hey, when your contract is up we'd be interested in bringing you in."

Re: Punk/Mox. I get wanting to put Moxley over in Cleveland, even though he's from Cincinnati. And I get wanting to do the rematch at All Out in Chicago. The opposite reactions there will be interesting. Gives me a Bret Hart Canada/US vibe. But, I don't get the squash at all. In fact, advertising that match and then delivering that feels very late 90s WCW to me. Hopefully the story they have in mind plays out better than that did.
