This better be a swerve. (It’s not) Their ace was Brock but now that is gone. To take some attention away from Vince and that whole situation Board Member Rocky just cucked Cody. Will “Die Rocky Die” come back?

If they really wanted Rock vs Roman instead of Cody, they should have just had The Rock win the Rumble. This sounds incredibly stupid.

...and none of it changes that Cody should have won the damn thing last year.

Yeah Cody should’ve won last year. That was the time to crown him. It’d be like if they had Austin lose to HBK at Mania 14 and then just sort of have him float around for a year. They’re so afraid to make new superstars now. Pull the trigger when the momentum is there.

That's a real head scratcher. Such an abrupt and unexplained departure from Cody's normal persona too.

TLDR: The Rock pushed hard for this, company believes it was necessary to help deflect attention from Vince (good luck with that). But also, the Punk injury screwed things up.

He’ll tear a muscle in the first 5 minutes. He has a roid bod that is made to look good on camera, not for wrestling.

They also spent a decent amount of that segment devaluing Seth and the heavyweight title, basically insinuating that it’s a secondary belt (it is). Which made it even funnier when Cody was like “you can fight your cousin, I’ll take the mid card belt that ISN’T the belt my dad wanted.”

Also, this is going to lead to a triple threat because Rocky can’t wrestle a match anymore. Do they do a mega swerve and have Cody win HW Championship at Elim Chamber, then win Universal at Mania? Unified champ?
