To me, it doesn't make total sense for Joe to win the title and not be part of Adam Cole's group since Cole winning the championship from MJF would help explain the motivation to screw him over.
My guess is that Cole was originally intended to take the title from MJF, but the injury put an end to that.
As for whether or not there was any collaboration with Joe, I guess we'll have to see.
But realistically, no one else in Cole's group was worthy of winning the title, and with MJF's injuries piling up and months until the next ppv, they needed to pull the trigger now.
I'm just glad Jungle Boy was nowhere near this like some were predicting. I frankly don't care if we ever see him again. He sucks on the mic heel or face, and never really improved in the ring. If this were the territory days you'd send him away for a year to rehabilitate his image and work on his game. Alas.
