I'd temper them to room temp before frying. I've never cooked chicken that far ahead of time prior to frying, but I do let the pieces cool off before hitting the oil.

I briefly became Belgian today for lunch. We went to a little brasserie and had escargots, mussels provençal, frites with mayonnaise, and a big Duvel. It was glorious.

I picked up a 9 lb skin on pork shoulder @giant eagle for .79/lb. Pulled pork with cracklings is on tomorrow’s menu.

Making sous vide pork chops tomorrow for my daughter and I. First time I tried it they were the best chops I'd ever had

I have 3 chuck roasts in the jacuzzi for my dinner club tomorrow. Have two pregnant women joining us... And while I know the meat will be safe to eat at the lower temp anyway with the pasteurization... I went with 139 to try and get them as "cooked looking" as possible. I just don't feel like explaining SV to them.

Doing them for 22ish hours. Plan on finishing in the broiler with various rubs.

Try the 'pork steak' recipe from (spoiler alert) ChefSteps

https://www.chefsteps.com/activities/th ... -your-life

It's more a method than recipe, but I use it all the time. We actually have two pair of chops in the freezer we have to use or lose before we move.

They put an aldi in near me.

Curious what everyone likes in Aldi. I've found it's a difficult store to shop in.

I didn’t care for Aldi in my four visits there.

I go to Aldi every week but honestly there isn't a whole lot that I get there. Their house brand snacks are fine (knockoff Takis are pretty good); nuts, cheap baking products, can find some decent produce buys, Senor Rico's Rice Pudding is really good, frozen fish is cheap if you don't care about farmer fish but there's also some wild caught stuff, some good cheese varieties, and there's always some brand name stuff as a special buy. That's about it. Their paper products are junk and so is their meat selection.

We buy everything we possibly can from Aldi, minus meat. The fruit has improved over the years, but you have to be picky.

Some good aldi takes.

I disagree about their meat selection. I think the chicken breasts are fine and I have enjoyed their pork chops a lot. I make pork chops on the cast iron a couple times a month. ive made the 5af legendary pork butt carnitas with aldi meat and have had success.

the veggie and fruit game are pretty weak though. and some items in the inventory can come and go, just like that.

Source of the post some items in the inventory can come and go, just like that.
yes, forgot about this little quirk. It can be annoying, but we've shopped there long enough to know what is "seasonal". If we like it enough, we'll stock up on it.

I do believe their meats have progressed, but we have a butcher nearby where we get higher quality meats for slightly more money.

The take and bake pizzas are usually pretty solid from Aldi.

Yeah, we buy everything at aldi, but generally just the skinless boneless chicken breasts. They are 1.49# and sometimes you can get ones close to the Best Buy date for 50% off. I must have close to 20lbs of chicken breasts in my freezer.

the brownie batter hummus at aldi is delicious

their cured meats and cheeses are very reasonably priced.

I'm not interested in buying their meats, maybe outside of chicken breast.

We tried the fresh pierogies and deli pickles. Both very good. Their grocery selection is decent. It's a welcomed addition for us as our other options are Walmart and overpriced locally owned grocery stores. We don't even have a GE close.

Yes those pickles in the plastic containers in the fresh food section are good imo
