a very unpopular joke in the shmenguin household is that i will someday cook a pizza inside our wood burning stove. does anyone know of a reason why this would be a disaster? i could get it up to 1300 degrees or so, sweep the wood over to the side, put some sort of cast iron pan in there and then apply pizza. what am i missing that would make it a horrible idea?

I was wondering if it was standalone and you could somehow cook a pizza on the top. :D

if i throw it against the glass (3 stooges cream pie style), it would cook in a micro second.

also...that fireplace is my favorite thing right now. it's pricey, but my house (2,000 sq ft or so) is completely heated by it. It was single digits last week, but my upstairs was 75 degrees.

Reminds me of Arnold's in Nashville. That place is top 10 places I've ever eaten

I make trips to the local hospital because they have a coffee shop inside that makes amazing milkshakes.

true or false: you would go to ikea for the meatballs...until you found out they were made from horses + bat guano

did you ever try using the chuck? I considered pork shoulder too.

I'm going to walk up to Wholey's and see what they have if we ever get a day above freezing to go for a walk.

I like meat off the bone, but those cartilaginous ends of pork ribs are not the best.

I knew some chick, who would stash steaks in her pants at the Center Avenue Giant Eagle.

Looking for recommendations for non stick pots and pans. I have some "cooks essentials" from QVC that have a really nice, thick base that doesn't warp and heats evenly but the non stick is about finished on them and they're already second hand. It doesn't appear that particular model is still in production so I'm looking for replacements.

If you aren't overly concerned with aesthetics, anything pots and pans related, seek out a restaurant supply store. If you're set on a brand name, it's tough to beat Cuisinart MCP series. (I'll be re-outfitting my kitchen with that stuff throughout this year)

Also, IKEA makes some surprisingly good cookware for not expensive.

I've had a set from walmart for the last couple years and they work. I figure non-stick pans are not forever pans, so $20 for a big one and small one is a no brainer for me. Can't recommend pots as my pots are all stainless steel.

Disregarding my cast iron, I haven’t owned a nonstick pan for a decade or two.
