I forget where it sits in the episode run, but one of the episodes is dedicated to the memory of Johnathan Gold, a longtime food critic in LA and kingmaker of restaurants. They mention that they were filming just a couple weeks after he died, which was right around a year ago.

That episode was great. I loved the give and take between all of the different chefs. And that Thai food... <drool>

I always thought Gold had a stunning resemblance to Brian Doyle-Murray.

Why’d you just post two pictures of Brian Doyle-Murray?

And that Thai food... <drool>
There are more Thais in Los Angeles than anywhere in the world outside of Thailand. We aren't hurting for great options, but even at that Jitlada is a standout. And it's a total hole in the wall.

Andy Ricker is a restaurateur from Portland with a famous Thai place. White as can be, but he's visited Thailand a bunch, so his cooking is 'authentic'. He opened a place in LA, and it shuttered like 18 months later. There were a lot of reasons behind the failure, but chiefly among them was he thought he could come here and tell diners what's what.

On episode 4 now. 1.) The Thai lady has some lovey young female relatives. 2.) This green curry looks **** amazing. Pad Thai is next up.

Edit: that peach pie looked amazing but I would sacrifice a limb to try the Thai food in this episode. Looked incredible. Was intrigued by her steaming everything beforehand as well as her need to plant everything.

Yeah, it looked unbelievable.

Our Thai restaurant closed for the summer so the owners could take their kids back home, so I'm suffering a bit.

Source of the post Being a relatively older father of two small kids, I am ready to truly move away from the red meat (if it means a greater chance a lower long-term health risks) as soon as somebody develops/markets a meat substitute that tastes at least "B".
Similar boat as you Tomas - 42 with two young kids. We buy meat in bulk from a place that only sells locally farmed, free range meats. Hardly ever buy red meat, unless we feel the urge to have some steak. Usually it's chicken or turkey, with a little bit of pork mixed in.

Go to Dinic's at the Reading Terminal Market. Get the roast pork sandwich with the provolone and broccoli rabe. You're welcome.

It is my opinion that this sandwich is a better and more appropriate food ambassador for Philadelphia.

One of the best for sure. You’ve ruined yourself for most future cheesesteaks from other places.

Out Lyft driver suggested it. However had a very It's Always Sunday instance when he said he was talking about he'd never been out of the city and didn't know what was "west"

I went to Jim's my last time in Philly. Despite the area smelling like urine, the sandwich was good.

I do like Jim’s better than Pats or Geno’s, but not as good as some others.

Today is Bourdain day.

I was listening to random music in my Google Play library, when one of the Nigerian psyc rock songs Bourdain used in one episode of Parts Unknown came up. Really bummed me out.
