Behold my latest pizza creation. You've heard of red pizza? White pizza? Here is green pizza: green-pea pesto sauce with bacon, onions, chopped roasted garlic, parm, and ricotta.

I make a pesto pizza with chicken, olive oil and garlic marinated tomatoes, and fresh mozz. It's pretty baller.

First meal on my pellet grill smoker from Sam's. Marinated chicken breast tenders. Very good.

ChefSteps, creators of Joule, have laid off most of their staff and scaled operations way back. I have become a sous vide convert over the last six months, but I have one of the cheaper knockoffs. Not the best news for Joule users.

We got a heads up on it from Chris last night. Just a complete gut punch.

We're a private group, not directly affiliated with CS. This has nothing to do with us, other than making the next couple days probably a very busy time answering questions.

From I've read and been told, CS is still selling and supporting Joule, but that's about the extent of their operations at the moment.

I was surfing around for more information...apparently the r/chefsteps subreddit was banned? WTF?

Their venture funding was a low-interest loan from Gabe Newell (the Valve/Steam guy). It allowed them to focus on developing the company without the need of instantly monetizing their ops.... or their community. They just spun off into the ready-made sauces for sous vide cooking - which are now all 'out of stock' - and I'm wondering if that was somehow a bridge too far. It's possible Newell pulled their note, as it were. It has been six years since they launched.

Chris posted an update today: Their funding was indeed pulled, and apparently with little heads up.

This came up as an ad on FB...anyone ever try these? I love red pepper flakes and these look very intriguing. Well reviewed too.

I have cooked more in the last few weeks than I had in the 2 1/2 years we lived in SF.

That's an exaggeration, but that's what it feels like.

Is the new kitchen to your liking? Or is the traffic so bad where you live you don't go out to eat?

A McRib value meal would cost more than my first car. We paid my great-uncle $5 for it.

Every once in a blue moon, Whole Foods has BOGOS on bell and Evans products. Last time they had a bongo sale, we bought like $60 worth of tenders.

Anyone hear of Made•In cookware? Started seeing a ton of targeted ads on Facebook, so I decided to check them out. They're a newish direct-to-consumer company from Austin that makes their stainless gear in the US with US-sourced metals. They have picked up some impressive reviews and endorsements.

I'm probably gonna buy one pan to check ergo; if I like it I'm outfitting the new kitchen.
So I went from testing one pan (the 3-qt saucier) to: 4 fry pans (2 ea 8" and 10"), 2 4-qt sauce pans, a saute pan, a carbon steel pan, and three universal silicone lids, and I'll be getting two of the smaller sauce pans once they're back in stock. Simply astonishing quality given the price point, which itself is fantastic given it's MITUSA.
