I snagged a bottle of chick Filas avocado Lime ranch dressing in the refrigerated dressings section at Walmart today. This dressing is top notch

I don't know if this would get appreciated in the TV thread, so I'll post it here:

Have Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations episodes always been on HBO/MAX? I know Parts Unknown has mostly been on there, but I didn't notice No Reservations until recently.

Anyway, Jose Andres' Discovery show is on Max, where he travels with his daughters through Spain. He goes back to El Bulli, probably the most famous restaurant in the world in its time, which closed in 2011. There's a great episode of No Reservations from 2011 shortly before the restaurant closed. Not somewhere I'd ever eat (well now that it's closed) but certainly fascinating.

I just noticed it as well, and not sure if it’s always been there or what.

We've been watching that Jose Andres thing. The restaurant where they go in the Barcelona episode (Disfrutar) is where I wanted to go for my 50th birthday, but alas.......

It's tough to watch the last couple seasons of Parts Unknown tbh. Lots of really joyless television imo.

Yes, the google machine says that the Travel Channel, which was the home of No Reservations back before the channel morphed into paranormal bullcrap, was owned by Discovery, which merged with Warner Bros., which owns HBO.

TIL that the Travel Channel was originally created by a subsidiary of Trans World Airlines in 1987 in order to encourage people to travel and therefore increase airline patronage.

Like the Michelin restaurant guide was created as a way to give people a reason to go driving and use up their car's tires. Their star ratings are defined in the context of car trips: 1-star = worth a stop on the way; 2-stars = worth a detour out of the way; 3-stars, worth a dedicated trip.

Found out last weekend that the only Boston Market nearby closed down recently. Gotta say, that makes me sad. I still enjoyed their 3-piece dark with sweet potatoes.

Ours closed as well. It wasn't good but it was 'something different' that we would do about once a year.

I was lucky in that our location was consistently good. I've been to others where it was a one time visit.

Back when Mrs Tif was a field rep and would do catered lunches for Dr's offices, BM was a stalwart go-to. Over her years she amassed hundreds of dollars in BM gift cards that are now useless.

I’ve actually gotten the notifications, but the new ones at Fresh Market are actually really good, and much cheaper.

I made pita bread yesterday, for the first time in years. Very easy recipe, just time consuming. Really excellent, too.

We were up in ulf's neck of the woods in Hermicash today for a medical appointment (only Mrs. F schedules Childrens Hospital appointments in Hermitage, go to Lawrenceville and make an afternoon of it, lady).

Went to the original Quaker Steak and Lube which used to be the only good location, and found out that even that isn't good anymore. There was hardly any sauce on my wings. WTF.

Fortunately we're going to Buffalo in a couple weeks.

The Lube sucks. You should have consulted me before this visit

On top of shitty food, the service is somehow always even worse

Claussen Kosher Dill pickles exist. Why are we trying to improve upon perfection?

Store-bought pickles are actually very easy to improve.

But ketchup is one thing that's like "Heinz figured this out a while ago, lads, no need to f**k about." House-made ketchup better be bringing some kind of wacky alternate flavor profile to merit the effort. But just regular old tomato ketchup? Leave it to the pros.

They're good, but I prefer these to all. Not too spicy, not too sweet, great on everything.

They also make a spicier version if that fits your tastes.

The simply brand are good pickle. Both dill and bread and butter are tasty.
