This is a tip for those of you with Droid phones that have progressively gotten more and more sluggish over the months or years. For the first time, I downloaded a new app launcher (Nova).

Holy ****. My phone is suddenly lightning fast, way more sleek, and all of my issues are gone. This is going to sound pretty pathetic to a lot of Droid users that I'm sure have been doing this for years, but I can't believe how much better it is than the stock.

I didn't mess with alternate launchers until I moved to the s5... for some reason, they thought it would be a good idea to not have "infinite scroll" of the homepages, not even as an optional setting. **** that ****.

Got an LG V10 in Dec '15. Like 364 days later (on my first day at new job) it went into a terminal boot loop and had to be replaced with a different handset. Same SIM card as was issued with the phone at the Verizon store in Burbank. So I've had this phone/SIM combo for over five months now.

Today, I restarted it and when it finished starting up it showed an error saying "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless."

WTF

So after making fun on Apple not having a headphone jack on the iPhone 7 last year, Google does the same with the new Pixel phones.

Pixel is the flagship. I have one and it's pretty nice. Removal of headphones jack is dumb but I always use Bluetooth earbuds anyways.

I'm in a dwindling consumer segment, but if you can't swap the battery and add storage I can't regard a device as a flagship. They're very important features for me, which I think condemns me to using LG handsets for the rest of my life.

I would consider the Samsung Galaxy line to be the Android flagship, the Pixel just happens to be made by Google.

I'm the same way with battery and memory. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you still can do that with the pixel.

Negative on both counts with the Pixel, I think.

Just my personal opinion but I went from Galaxy to Pixel and I think Pixel is better by a decent margin. I realize that isn't really the definition of flagship, and Galaxy is the most popular of the android phones I'd assume

Negative on both of those with the pixel.

I'm with tif on that, too. Love my LG for those reasons.

Expandable storage would be nice, but with 64/128gb or whatever in memory I'm not worried about running out. I don't store much on my fine.. pics are all uploaded to the google cloud anyways and I normally stream all of my music. I can see how it's an issue for others though.

The battery thing doesn't bother me at all. I haven't swapped or needed to swap out batteries in years.

I do like that if you buy a pixel, you get unlimited original size photo uploads into google photos. That is a nice feature. I probably do about 50-60GB of pictures a year on my phone and have been uploading them to photos/HDD. I must have misread about the external memory card. It will definitely come down the the Note 8 and Pixel for me next spring.

Yeah the pic upload for pixel to google photos helps alot. I don't have much bad to say about the Pixel. It's been good for me the few months I've had it.

Both Pixel 2 versions have a $100 escalator between the 64 and 128 gig versions. Just buying a 128 gig SD card costs like 40 bucks. The Photos backup is nice, and I have my phone set up to do that automatically, but I don't like not having a local storage solution.

And you simply cannot replace the convenience of a replaceable battery. You can go from 1% to 100% in like 10 seconds.

I guess I just never had to worry about my battery dying. I'm pretty close to a charger of some kind at all times, and the Pixel charges super fast on its original charger(or car charger).. I can go from 25% to 100% in probably 20 to 25 minutes or so.

I’m pulling the trigger on an 8 & 8 plus to replace our 6 & 6 plus phones. The battery life is terrible on both of our near 3 year old iPhones.

I haven't used my work iPhone in weeks. Partially because it's ****, and partially because IOS 11 wasn't compatible with our enterprise solutions. Now I can't remember passcode and every time I guess the time between guesses leaps farther ahead. Blah.
