for android phones, under settings > accounts , do you guys have auto sync data checked or unchecked? Trying to save some battery life on my phone and I don't know if this helps

That's rich.

They figured it out. Returned it to a corporate 'store within a store', a kiosk in an old Radioshack. Everything has worked out in the end, it just took for-ev-r.

Holy ****.

Replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone catches fire on Southwest plane

If this is true, Samsung is proper f'd.

Hopefully this will kill any future idea of a sealed battery phone from them.

Southwest attendants warned us this week not to have a note 7 powered on. I was a little afraid of that happening.. People don't always listen

Oh replacement, they're effed. I didn't know what you meant by that.

Reading the story it started to pop while he powered it down after overheating

So Samsung has recalled every note 7, and ceased production. The return kit includes gloves so you don't get burned. Will future releases come with gloves ootb?

Seems like an opportunity for grey market cell phone gloves.

When I returned mine to the store they had fireproof envelopes so they could send them back through airmail.

Calling an EOD unit would have been a better idea.

Anyone here have Google Fi? Looks intriguing, especially once the Pixel comes to market.

Not sure if Google Fi is available in Pittsburgh? Also - the Samsung thing was totally to get the drop on the new iPhone - that was documented. How embarrassing.

My Androidophobe friend is pressuring me to get the Pixel and switch to Google Fi. I'm not personally interested because I've had poor experiences with calling over WiFi.

Hmm, I use calling over wifi with Verizon and I prefer it actually. I have terrible reception at my house - so wifi calling is all I ever use.

Google Fi doesn't require calling over wifi... they ping from 3 carrier's towers, I believe.

Source of the post Google Fi doesn't require calling over wifi...
This statement is disingenuous but technically correct, so whatever.

You could buy an airplane and just taxi around never leaving the ground if you wanted. That's not how it was designed, intended, or marketed. But you could.

Yeah, if the Note 8 is a warmed over (no pun intended) Note 7 I might jump to Google Pixel on Fi. It would be my first carrier jump in almost 15 years.

I have no doubt that I'm switching when I "need" a new phone.
