I just bought the S6 Sunday. It was between that and the M9, and I was coming from an S3. Read some comparison articles, the Samsung pretty much kills the M9. Much longer battery, faster processing, brighter and bigger screen...plus they're the same price (assuming you have an upgrade. I was due for one with Sprint and they were both $199.99).

I got the S6 Edge last Thursday. So far, I'm liking it way more than my iphone 4s.

Why have all the high end Android phones suddenly stopped supporting removable batteries and SD cards? The battery thing isn't as big a deal, but the removable storage is kind of important to me. Are there even Android options in the current gen that still offer SD cards?

You should always have an on-device storage option.

Moto X 2015 is rumored to have removable storage again. That might be the best Android phone on the market and will get better adding in microsd.

Note 5 release also rumored to be pushed up to beat the iPhone 6S fall launch.

As far as removable storage, what happens when you don't have internet access and 16GB or less storage? For my iPhone I can use iTunes to get my portable playilist and apps down to under 12GB but no videos. On my Note 3 I have tons of crap and filled a 64GB card with more music and movies and have 4 spare batteries so I don't need to be tied to a charger. I usually just keep swapping the battery and charge the old one up while I am out.

Android 4.0 locked apps out from using the removable storage for security reasons. 5.0 has a bunch of new built in abilities that should allow that if apps are designed to utilize it. So I wonder if that had something to do with manufactures moving away from it. Also don't forget they are often hidden under the battery compartment and not in an easy to access slot.

I have an LG G3 now, my first non HTC Android phone since 2007. I think its great, much better than the phones LG was pumping out for a while. Both it and the newer G4 have SD card slots.

I'm more disturbed about the removable batteries. If you get a new phone every year I suppose it won't matter all that much, but I tend to keep mine for quite a few years, and even the best batteries fade over time. I probably replaced the battery in my prior phone maybe two or three times before I bought a new one, and I purchased a Galaxy S5 over competing models largely because the S5 has a removable battery. I'm greatly disappointed that the S6 has a fixed battery.

Wait people get new phones every year? Why?

My phone time line is:

2010: HTC G2 Good
2014: Samsung Note 3 Better

The Note 3 makes life very easy. The S pen is awesome and personally useful when I'm doing stuff.

You can remove the battery and SD card.

I'm using a hand-me-down iPhone, the first model. It does everything I need except show the next page of a thread here.

I said this at the other place, but my wife's year old 5C gets sick battery life. She go can a day and half without a charge, easily. And she's a heavy user of the phone.

My S3? Even after new batteries, it's nagging me to recharge by 4-5 PM each day. Most days, it sits next to me at my desk, without being used.

I just think iOS is much more efficient with power usage. And my S3 was designed to use an older version of Android, so it's really inefficient. When it was new, it wasn't bad. Who doesn't charge their phone(s) daily anyway?

I'm still thinking about S5 or S6. I've never run into storage problems, but batteries are a concern.

Amazon just had the Fire Phone at the lowest price ever for $179 for the 32GB unlocked with one year of prime inlcuded. back to the normal $449 today. I picked one up as an extra phone because we get prime anyways and I was close to the renewal and payed $189 at the time so the phone really just cost $90. If it gets down to $159 with prime membership I'll get another one since the prime membership can stack, it just extends your renewal date. There has been a software update that is based now on Kitkat that has fixed all the weird issues that came up when you intall Google Play services. Right now I am running the Google Now launcher and using the google play store for almost everything. It's a pretty good phone, especially for the price when you pick it up on discount.

If interested add a price watch on camelcamelcamel so when it falls below your target you get emailed.
