Meanwhile in Indy, skenes struck out 8 of the 13 batters he faced

I'd say free Skenes but seeing games where the bullpen will pitch more than he does isn't appealing.

Yes if skenes and jones combine for 10 innings a week that still leaves roughly 35 to 44 innings per week for the rest of these characters

It is kind of a tough line to manage, and I don't think Shelton is necessarily the smartest man in charge to execute this strategy.

That being the balancing of 2024 and 2025. And why I am becoming very bearish on this year, and more bullish for next.

Jones' workload in the last two years is around 25 starts and 125 innings. For context, Keller and Oviedo started 32 games last year, and between them averaged around 185 innings (full year workload).

Which just goes to say that they are going to be making decisions that hurt their ability to win in '24 with the express intent of workload management and service time manipulation.

if you're gonna baby jones and skenes do it in the MLB and have them throw the same day, 4 innings apiece.

Genius!

And we're through 8 innings here are PNC Park. Skenes and Jones have been lights out in one of the more dominant shared starts in MLB history. They combined to give up 1 hit and no free passes. They faced the minimum after Jones induced the double play ball in the 4th, and they combined to strike out 19 of those 24 batters. The crowd here has been electric watching these two men swing their proverbial scythes at this utterly demoralized Brewers lineup. With a 3-0, Shelton will turn to Bednar in the ninth, since Skenes hit his 42 pitch limit for the day. What a feel good story for our Buccos, and you can feel the excitement in the entire city at the potential of these two young phenoms.

I meant to have pitching in there actually. Hitting - not sure wander was as hyped. Bryce Harper maybe the last one

Didn't know Guy Junker was one of the PA announcers at PNC Park.
