An oat muffin would fall immediately which would lead to some first downs since it can’t run backwards. He has the physical tools of an elite athlete, and the field awareness of an oat muffin.

Yeah, but the oat muffin has absolute bricks for hands.

If it were a human-sized oat muffin, I imagine that if the ball is thrown with sufficient force, it would just stick in the muffin, making catches easy. Whether that human-sized muffin could prevent strips/fumbles after the catch is another question entirely.

We said the same thing last offseason. At some point, Kahn has to realize this team’s limitation may not be the players, but the coachShaping up to be a solid offseason so far. I want them to nab Boyd because he's actually a Pittsburgh guy that's produced.
Still need a center though.
We have to realize that the modern FA strategies passed Kevin Colbert by, and/or franchise QBs are expensive and limit your options.
Tomlin is probably overrated, but I don't think he's been the problem. In fact, with a more robust cap situation, he's the type of coach that can lure FA players. I mean, we know it's not the facilities or sunny weather.

Coach Tomlin et al at Clemson's pro day.

Steelers are having a great offseason. Need a WR and a center, and maybe another DL.

Agreed. Elliott will allow minkah to play center field which is what we wantSteelers are having a great offseason. Need a WR and a center, and maybe another DL.
I’m starting to wonder if they are gonna splash for Conor Williams at center and focus on tackle, DT, Slot corner and receiver in the draft

Kahn has done a good job of making sure we don't get pigeonholed into drafting a specific position - at least in his 1 year so far. I'm sure the positions will at least be addressed, so they can focus on a combination of best player and need.

Imagine if they had given Louis Riddick a shot.

I watched the press conference and Wilson said all the right things about competition and making the team better in any way, blah blah blah, but it seems pretty clear that Russ is QB1. He went to dinner with the Heywards and Muth, and a few others (didn't mention Kenny) and he had the defense courting him prior to signing. No way Wilson came here thinking he could possibly back up Kenny **** Pickett.

It’s funny that anyone actually thought that this was a qb competition.

You're not going to put KP over a potential HOFer who's done more in this league than Kenny could have dreamed about so far, regardless if he's older or not.

Interesting stuff from the presser. It's really no surprise that he kept mentioning Heyward, TJ, and Minkah, as they are locker room leaders on the team, but it did shine a light on how little leadership exists on the offensive side of the ball. When you think about it, who on O would Russ 'reach out' to? Najee maybe? Muth? There's no one.
Kinda makes me think that was part of what went into the decision to pull the trigger on bringing him here.

But is he the leader you want in there? By all accounts, he seems like he's a terrible leader minus his work ethic.

Not sure “by all accounts” is true.
His teammates in Denver were all supportive of him. Sounds like that was just Payton wanting a guy that plays his style (drew breese type).
The Seattle locker room clearly caved in on itself, but imagine if the Steelers pulled the plug on Ben one of those years where it was a bad situation.
Listened to an interview with a Denver commentator and he said Russ was liked in the locker room and the notion that he was a cancer was nonsense.

Would those vets make that effort to recruit Russ if he was a problem? I mean, who would be more informed on his attitude? Football fans that remember anecdotes from the end of the Seattle Super Bowl window or actual nfl players?
So right, is he old and nearing the end? - yes
Is he better than Kenny Pickett? -c’mon man, yes
Does he have an attitude problem? - doubt it

Defensive players tired of carrying the load for Kenny want anybody but Kenny.Would those vets make that effort to recruit Russ if he was a problem?
That checks out, honestly.

I heard some commentary from Ramon foster (on a podcast with Dejean) and they talked about Wilson’s character. Foster talked to a few guys and they told foster that Russ isn’t a bad guy he’s just a goober and it’s hard for him to fit in. That kind of tracked with the interview that marshawn lynch gave

I don't need them to be buds. He's clearly a weird dude. Just throw the ball better than Kenny and I'll be happy. Speaking of, how big are WIlson's hands?
