Kenta Maeda is also off the board. He is old, recently had major surgery, and doesn’t eat innings, but he was another reasonably priced option that is no longer available

Ryu interests me in that Maeda vain.

Not trying to be captain obvious, but we can rule out a real top 2 type starter coming via FA. Thinking three guys in that Lorenzen / Severino bucket.

The Pirates are not going to spend serious money. We go through this every year, they're going to find bottom of the barrel guys, once successful to see if they can capture lightning in a bottle.

Ryu should definitely be on the pirates radar but I’m thinking he’s juuuust good enough to be too “expensive” for the pirates (either in years or in $$$).

Domingo German might be an option too. But he will probably get 3 years or something
