This has been a brutal year for baseball HOFers. Especially pitchers for sure.

Mrs Tif's step-grandmother passed away this morning at 95. She had been in declining health all year, and had been moved to hospice in September. No cause, just "she was 95". She was supposed to get her first round of COVID vax today.

I loved her very much, as she was a vibrant and witty lady. But she was a part of Mrs Tif's life for over 40 years. Pour one out for BJ Verbeckmoes tonight, if you please, gents.

Everyone, thanks for your kind words re BJ. It's an outdated phrase, but she really was a pistol.

RIP Bassist Eugene Wright, last surviving member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, at 97.

Sad but except for Desmond who died of lung cancer in The ‘70s, all the DBQ lived long lives.

Again, we have to go to European TV to see an iconic American jazz band play in their primes. Very interesting.

I have a Brubeck biography to read next in my queue. Looking forward to it.

The Three Mile Island crisis was sort of the first major news event that I have a vivid memory of as a child. It seemed like he was on TV constantly for a month.

Did they ever cover how it wasn’t a big deal?
