he’s great; Best in Show is a revelation

Willard was one of the 10 or so best improvisational comedic actors of all time imo.

I mean, I say that without actually being able to think of more than maybe three or four I might rank ahead of him.... and they were all in movies together throughout the 80s-00s.

He was a cool dude.

Damn... I thought Willard was about eight years younger than his actual age. He was so funny. RIP.

Horrible. I thought I read that she was in the hospital prepping for surgery on a broken ankle when the heart attack occurred.

Rip tides scare the hell out of me because I feel like you could be the greatest swimmer and still get drowned by them

I had to be pulled in by a lifeguard after getting caught in a rip tide. I was in my early 20s, not out of shape by any means, and I couldn't do ****. As hard as I fought to get back to the shore the damn thing kept pulling me back out. I'm assuming it wasn't even that strong of a rip current but I was absolutely exhausted after just a few minutes of fighting it.

Yup...I was caught in a minor rip and did just this. That said, it is EXTREMELY easy to forget conventional knowledge and panic like F'ing crazy. You see the beach that is tantalizingly so close, and you think that surely you can make it. Awful way to go.

I think that's the other thing I have a hard time understanding--if I am really panicking and am running out of energy, I typically go straight to the backfloat move to help conserve energy. I feel like in a lot of these cases, people are panic swimming directly into the rip current until they completely lose energy.

I will also say--there are few things that are more panic-inducing than when you are in rough water and the waves keep crashing mercilessly over your head. That is the only time I ever yelled for a life guard, although I ended up getting back to shore. I was getting tossed around and I saw my wife floating further away from shore, and she had a look on her face that scared me to my core. I didn't think she was going to make it back and it terrified me.

As someone who got caught in the current, and knew what a rip tide was and how to escape, it didn't matter. Maybe if I trained to get out of it in addition to just reading about it, I'd have remembered. But in the moment, I forgot all logic and panicked to the point of exhausting myself. I didn't realize exactly how much danger I was in until many years later. At the time, I was mostly just embarrassed.
