Damn, read about that yesterday. I occasionally listened to Coast and Coast back in the early 2000s, and man that guy had a knack for spinning a yarn/keeping listeners engaged. The story about the pilot that called in as he was flying into Area 51 was fantastic.RIP Art Bell. Love Coast to Coast AM and loved when Bell was included in Prey.

Let's not forget his underrated performance in Saving Silverman
RIP
Ermey was a strongly pro-gun guy who served as an NRA board member and was a longtime spokesman for Glock. In those roles, he had a lot of contact with members of the "gun media," and I've read a fair number of articles on Mr. Ermey and also read some interviews. I've never seen anyone write a bad word about him, and he came across as entertaining, funny, and a genuinely good human being. RIP.

Yeah, he's one of those guys whose iconic role/performance really betrayed his real life character. Loved seeing him pop up in stuff where he portrayed a character opposite of Hartman.
RIP
Reading a little more about him, I never realized he was in an Aviation Support MOS before becoming a Drill Instructor. He served 11 years, 9 of which were in Aviation Support. Like my Dad, step-dad, and uncles. *fistbump*
It also means that my MOS was a tiny step closer to the battlefield than his, as I was I worked in Air Support Operations.
His career ended because he got hurt in Okinawa. Typical staff sergeant.

The guy originally hired to play Gunnery Sergeant Hartman was repurposed as the helicopter door gunner, who had a few great lines of his own.
RIP
The boot camp part of the movie is insanely good stuff.
"If God would have wanted you up there he would have miracled your ass up there by now, wouldn't he?"
I mean, come on.
The war part of the movie is kind of........ dull? The movie just loses most of its mojo once they get to Hue.
