Early reports said the blue pickup also ran over the body.

That neighborhood on Staten Island is famous (infamous?) for Mafia Dons and their families. The home used for the Corleone compound in the Godfather films is in that neighborhood.

Yeah, the actor who played Carlo Rizzi (Connie Corleone's husband) in Pt I (and in flashbacks in Pt II) grew up in part in that neighborhood; he led Coppola to that house as a potential location.

This struck me as kind of sad....
John Mehno, who has covered Pittsburgh sports for the Mirror for more than 35 years, has passed away.
Mehno (pronounced Mayno)...

Dick Dale had to keep touring to cover his medical expenses.
He was quoted as saying "If I stop touring, I die." Meaning he would no longer be able to afford his cancer treatment.

I just learned that my neighbor died today after suffering a heart attack while doing volunteer work at his church's camp. He was in his early 60s and had just retired last April. He was the picture of health. He walked miles every day, frequently jogged, played volleyball, etc. He was, without a slightest bit of doubt, the kindest, most selfless, best man I've ever known in my entire life. If he were a character in a TV show or movie, people would say 'that guy's too impossible to be real,' but he was. In 40 yeas of being his neighbor, I never once saw him angry, or even irked. He would drop anything he was doing to help anyone and everyone and would never take a penny in return.

I'm having trouble getting my head around this. It seems impossible that someone this good loses his life and is taken from his children and grandchildren, while so many complete pieces of human excrement waltz into old age without a care in the world. I know life isn't fair, but this seems especially so.

Yeah, that's really tough.

We had a 45 year old man - community and church leader - drop dead during a 15K last weekend. He was in phenomenal shape and was prepping for another marathon. This guy volunteered everywhere, any church function; a real pillar of the community. When certain areas were flooding this fall because of the tropical storms, he would be the first to go in with his boat or truck to get people out of danger. Stuff like this, all the time.

Yet the local meth head who steals stuff out of parked cars and backyards walks among us...

Naotoshi Yamada, a/k/a the "Golden Top Hat Guy," at age 92. Per the article below, Mr. Yamada was a huge fan of the Olympics who attended every Olympics since the 1964 Tokyo games. But he was also a huge sumo fan, and I cannot count the number of times I saw him in the background of an NHK sumo broadcast wearing his trademark golden top hat. RIP.
