as much as I loathe the royal family, that feels like an insulting comparison lol

For Brits that love the family I think the biggest part is the tradition. The Windsors (current royal family) have a link to the Tudors (Henry VIII/Elizabeth I) and it’s deeply steeped in British history

all that said, I still find it funny. The people who adore the royal family would all be serfs if it was 400 years ago. The royal family doesn’t give a **** about the people other than the power and fame the people give them

So minus the tradition, what's different about them versus the Kardashians?

Incredibly wealthy, incredibly famous, in the news 24/7, have no real power outside of influence, doesn't care about us poors.

The only major difference seems to be that lineage, lmao.

I mean really that’s it. And the dumb pomp and circumstance around marriages, knightings, ceremonies etc

Man, this one hurts. Growing up in un-funky central PA checking his Sun Goddess collaboration with EWF out of the library was my introduction to funk. I have a ton of his vinyl. Great stuff. RIP.

Ex Pirate Maury Wills. Set the all time stolen base record of 104 bases in 1962 with the Dodgers, breaking Ty Cobb's record of 96 set in 1915. Lou Brock then RIckey Henderson took the all time crown.

She nailed the religious zealot role in Deep Space Nine. Made you hate her character.

it’s really depressing to think about how many great jazz artists have passed (especially at a young age) and how as a genre itself it’s kind of dying out

Sonny Rollins and Herbie Hancock are the last two living jazz musicians whose music I adore but they’re 92 and 82 respectively

of course, jazz will still be a thing but its heyday is long gone. Most people associate jazz with Kenny G which is pretty funny once you read Pat Metheny’s excoriation of Kenny:

As a composer of even eighth note based music, he SHOULD be compared to Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver or even Grover Washington.

Suffice it to say, on all above counts, at this point in his development, he wouldn't fare well.

lol I was confused when you said Fred Ward earlier…

also speaking of old RIPs. Grant Imahara

Was watching some Mythbusyers. His death wasn’t only sad but scary. The only phrase more horrifying than “undiagnosed intracranial aneurysm” is “brain-eating amoeba”
