RIP Glen "SPOT" Lockett, former Black Flag bassist who also went on to produce a number of albums for Black Flag, Descendents, Minutemen, and Husker Du.
He was recovering from a stroke he had suffered three months earlier. He had been suffering from fibrosis since late 2021 and was awaiting a lung transplant prior to his stroke

I get that side of it, but there are some people who don't keep up with who is in and out of the band. Slayer is an easier example to use because everybody knew of Jeff being sick, Kerry being a dickbag, and how Dave got screwed over.I'd bet that most would know who is still with the band and who isn't. This happened to Slayer towards the end. Jeff Hanneman died (RIP) and was replaced by Gary Holt - who filled in amazingly - and then dickbag Kerry King kicked out Dave Lombardo.
To use a different example, I used to be a big fan of Ministry. If you asked me to name three people currently in the band, I honestly don't know if I could do it. The long tenured members of the band are long gone. The original members never made it past the third year of the band. But at this point, Ministry is nothing more than a rotating roster of musicians who last a year or so. You may seem them on one tour, and they may be gone the next.

I can’t find any news about his death. Where did you read about it?Jerry Samuels
edit: ah, never mind
my family has listened to Dr. Demento a lot so I’m very familiar with this song. I am absolutely flabbergasted that it hit number 3 in the Billboard 100. Feels unheard of now for a song as weird as this one

RIP Bobby Caldwell, best known for this blue eyed soul gem. I remember being stunned to find out that he was a) a white guy and b) having learned a, not Boz Scaggs. Died of a lengthy illness due to side effects from an antibiotic. Only 71.
As the video bears out, you eventually learn- he’s white! And not Boz!

Biggie sampled Caldwell for Sky's the Limit, only reason why his name is familiar to me. Crazy how many of those yacht rock guys reappeared in the 90s.
