Agreed, Kelo v. City of New London was a terrible decision. FWIW, that block of land that the government seized? It still stands empty, 14 years later. They took the land, demolished the homes, and have done nothing with it. Nevertheless, he was indeed a good man. RIP.

Damn. RIP.

David Hedison also passed away the other day. He played Felix Leiter in the two Dalton Bonds, and was also the star of the 1960s series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

In many not-so-brilliant films.

Survived by his wife of 50 years.

Look up talks with him discussing the 'tears in the rain' monologue from Blade Runner. Epic stuff.

Yeah, he didn't get many chances to really shine. My favorite of Rutger's films and performances was The Hitcher where he played one of the best villains in movie history.

Let's not forget "Wanted: Dead or Alive" in which he shoves a grenade in Gene Simmons' mouth.

And, "Hobo With A Shotgun"

And who among us, at this stage, would not just love the opportunity to shove a grenade in Gene Simmons' mouth.

Man, RIP Rutger Hauer. :( Blade Runner is one of my all-time favorite movies, and the "tears in rain" scene is one of my all-time favorite movie moments. I'm also a huge Vangelis fan, and Hauer's mostly-improvised monologue over Vangelis's music was absolutely magic.

Yeah, Blade Runner is definitely top-5 all-time for me. "... tears in rain..." Woof. And a big +1 for the Vangelis score.

I also liked the line when he was talking to Chew: "If only you could see what I've seen with your eyes." I'll tell myself he wrote that, too.

RIP.

Just as a side-note, what an amazing year 1982 was for science fiction.

Blade Runner is a good film, but Hauer's monologue is one of the greatest of alltime and launches BR into another level

I know he did a lot of other stuff but that alone is a monstrous career moment and makes Roy Barry an iconic character of fiction, not just film

I mean, 'Roy Barry' does have a hit on IMDB. Not a monstrous one, but still.
