Sam Loyd (Ted from Scrubs) died at 56 from a brain tumor.

Scrubs is one of my favorite tv series. Dude was hilarious and a good singer.

Aww man.... Lloyd was a great character actor, loved when he would be on any show I was watching.

Not sure if this is even the right place for this, but a friend of mine from middle/high school is going through a horrible tragedy right now. Her 8 y.o. son (Civario) died earlier this week in a house fire that destroyed the home and sent both parents to Pittsburgh via life flight, where they have both thankfully recovered. I can't wrap my mind around their loss. The GoFundMe set up for them for the countless expenses they will have is already over $80k, which warms this old Altoonan's heart. Just terrible. RIP little guy.

IIRC he found out about his tumor either right before or right after their child was born. What a wide range of emotions to have to process.

that is rough! a few years ago I had a friend of mine who's 6 year old son died at daycare. he was out on the playground without supervision and somehow wrapped some kind of cord around his neck before going down the slide. ended up choking himself to death when he couldn't get out of it. I can't even imagine what that did to that entire family.

Dude that's awful. My worst nightmare realized.

Last year my daughter (5 at the time) was playing on my neighbor's swingset. This set has a rope climb wall up the outside with one of those tunnel slides down from the inside of the fort.

As kids are apt to do, she pulled the rope inside and down the slide. I was doing yard work and suddenly heard her screaming. The rope got caught around her ankle and she was hung upside down in the slide. It really rattled me bad and that's the first thing I thought of... If it had been her neck I never would have heard her.

I was just thinking, what famous people do you see going soon. I was watching Blazing Saddles this weekend and thought about Mel Brooks. Dude is still around, is 93 I think and thought if he'd make it through 2020.

Top of my mind is:

Mel Brooks
Sean Connery
Bob Barker

We should make a game out of this. Everybody make a list and then we keep track through the year.

Bob Barker is one I am shocked to still have around. I thought for sure he wouldn't last long after leaving TPIR.
