Wow. Childhood memories of my uncles listening to Rush got me hooked. All my friends thought I was weird but Rush grew on them too. Epic band, epic drummer, epic lyricist.

RIP Neil

I'm really bummed about this.

I'm also almost a 1/5 into Old Grandad.

I was never a big Rush fan, but always appreciated Neil's talent as a drummer.

And when they pulled the body from the twisted, burning wreck...it looked just like this....

Still bummed out about her son's death. Every once in a while, I get this spark or twinge of thought wondering when the next season of Parts Unknown will debut. Then I remember he's gone.

Lots of my favorite celebs have died over the last few years, but most I don't really grieve or think about much after a few days. Bourdain and George Harrison, however, are always there. It's weird.

I don't think a week goes by that we don't watch an hour of television that Bourdain was involved with. Whether it was a show he himself presented, or one that he produced.

75 is a good life for a wrestler from that era. I'll always be grateful to him for getting his son into wrestling, my childhood would not have been the same without him. RIP.

My biggest fear at his passing is that there will be an immediate rush to get the rights to LOTR and it will be commercialized to hell and back. Or worse, a new trilogy will be created that renders the original trilogy meaningless. Who do the rights pass to I wonder?

The Saul Zaentz Company has held the film/TV/merch license to LOTR/Hobbit since the 70s. It gets a little complicated in that SZC sub-licensed some of the rights, which is why MGM was involved in The Hobbit trilogy, but The Tolkien Estate was merely a conduit for approvals and canonical references (they also retained sole right to literary works). But Christopher resigned from his official duties with the estate a couple years ago; his death probably won't change much, outside of complaints quieting down.
