During my full blown poker obsession in the 2000s, I read Super System front to back. RIP.

Read that book too, shaf. My brother and I used to go to the Verona VFD and play no limit all night Friday nights. Rounders is what brought my attention to the game but Super System is what you read if you wanted to get better at playing poker.

There were so many local fire halls, etc. that started hosting no-limit cash games and tournaments during the poker craze. I used to drive up to Cresson, Gallitzin, etc. and there were so many fish just asking to have their money taken.

We played against guys that didn't even care, and you could tell. There were just there to hang out. They would straight up say, "come on, need a heart" and you knew they were chasing the flush. It also just so happened that during this craze I was travelling to Vegas for work, so got to use my "skills" on the real ($1/2) tables.
What's really weird was one guy I played with talked about starting a brewery, then started Rivertown here in the Pittsburgh area. It grew quickly, then fazed out when the microbreweries started taking off. They closed a few years ago, but so strange how long ago that was that even another fad came and went.

yeah, I’ll admit I was disappointed when I found out (years ago) he was a piece of ****. Funnily, I’m most familiar with him as being in Mars Attacks and Running Man, but it’s depressing when you discover someone who often gets touted as one of the best RBs ever if not THE best was actually a pretty shitty person
it reminds me of Karl Malone. Dude knocked up a 13 year old when he was 20. I loved him as a player growing up but that horrible detail about him changed everything obviously. It’s hard for me to hear his name without cringing
And it saddens me as a sports fan because I want people who I like in a sports aspect to be good people too

Dirty Dozen is my favorite. Seems a good time for a rewatch.

Of all the domestic violence enthusiasts he is one, for sure.

You know him from the "it's not much but it's honest work" meme but he had a legitimately huge impact on US farming practices.
