I happened to see him in person a few years ago, and he looked great. Did not look like he was in his late 70s (at the time).Kind of surprised at this. He keep himself in great shape. I read he still lifted 3 days a week, and did cardio as well.Pro Wrestling Mag just reported it as well. 82.
RIP.

Erin Popovich, wife of Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich for 40 years, died this morning at the age of 67 after what is being reported as an extended illness. Pop has always come across as a good, thoughtful person. Sad for his loss.

It sounds like a few NBA journos knew about it, but they all kept it quiet for Pop. In this day and age, commendable.

Twitter was buzzing last night over the TNT reporter who asked Lebron about Erin's death. He didn't know she had died, and apparently the interview became very awkward very fast.It sounds like a few NBA journos knew about it, but they all kept it quiet for Pop. In this day and age, commendable.

Edit: apparently she gave him a heads up before asking the question.

Damn....can't even imagine living through as much as she did. She was solidly into middle age when the bombs dropped on Hiroshima, and she lived another 73 yearsRIP Nabi Tajima, (probably) the last living person to have been born in the 19th century.

Dang, mine was close to that. She was born in 1894 and lived to 1989.My great grandma was born in 1898 and died in 1996. It's hard to process the idea of her living another 20 years beyond that. I mean, she was a senior citizen when I was born.

RIP Doreen Simmons at age 85. Simmons was a British expat who moved to Japan in the 1970s to work as a teacher, writer, editor, and translator. While living in Japan, she became a fan of sumo and quickly became one of the preeminent experts on sumo and its history. When the NHK added English-language secondary audio to its sumo broadcasts, it hired Simmons to work as a color commentator because she knew far more about the sport that the NHK's own employees and announcers. For her efforts, she was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun in 2017, which is Japan's equivalent to something along the lines of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I've listened to many sumo broadcasts featuring Doreen Simmons, and she knew everything. It was like having a living sumo Google doing the commentary. She will be greatly missed.
