RIP Shoichiro Toyoda, at age 97. He was the son of Toyota Motors founder Kiichiro Toyoda and the grandson of Sakichi Toyoda, who started the company as Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. Shoichiro was president of Toyota Motors starting in 1982 and was the chairman of the board from 1992 to 1999. Among other projects, Shoichiro Toyoda greenlit both the creation of the Lexus brand and the creation of the Prius hybrids.
