Effing awful man. RIP John Prine. He’s the one that hurts the most for me so far.

Most famous song from John Prine? I honestly don't know anything by him.

I’m a big fan of “When I get to heaven” and “Other side of town.”

It's okay to just say he wasn't famous. ;)

I feel like there is a certain portion of society just waiting for a prominent celebrity death from COVID-19 and these lesser known folks that are passing away at their life expectancy are being hoisted up as pretenders by people that want to be a part of it.

There is a theme to the last few pages of this thread, is all. The only mention of Prine on this board prior to COVID was a one-off reference by Guinness a few years ago. Marsalis? Never. Withers? Never.

I wouldn't presume to tell anyone how to grieve. The above comment made me think of something that I have been mulling over for a while that is bigger than this thread or forum. People seem like they're poised and near-restless waiting for a big figure to pass from it.

The only theme here is that you're just not much into music.

This song also reminds of the asinine decision by Pitt remove the Stephen Foster statue.

I've always loved this song primarily because Iris and John have distinct, and lovely voices and work so well together.

She's the only singer I ever saw in person whose singing made me forget where I was.

Boundless Love is one of the few songs that make me emotional just hearing it. Top 5 songwriter of the last half century easily. Damn this sucks

I don't know why a person has to be mentioned on a board to be considered a person of his stature.

He was a huge influence of most of my favorite artists today, Isbell, Childers, Simpson, etc.

Yeah, but do you even know the lollipop man for Minardi-Ford during the 1995 season?

John Prine was a huge influence in a genre of music (Americana/Outlaw Country/County Folk) that, unfortunately, tends to not get much radio airplay. I didn't run across that world until I ran across the Outlaw County channel on XM satellite radio. It opened my eyes to a whole new world of music and swiftly became one of my favorite genres. And Prine was a massive influence for it all. RIP, Mr. Prine.
