Can't believe ZZ died. He was one of the first Pens I loved. The double numbers from 1988-1989:

11 - Cullen
33 - ZZ
44 - Brown
66 - Lemieux
77 - Coffey

I’ve read tweets saying he died in his sleep from a severe viral infection (myocarditis).

It was with broken hearts that we said goodbye to Flurry “Destructo” Kleinhagen yesterday afternoon. Our beautiful girl snuggled her way into our hearts, despite being born on the wrong side of the state line. She came home Memorial Day of 2009, but wasn’t impressed by her namesake’s 30 save performance a day later to reach the Stanley Cup Finals.
She was more person than puppy, preferring to gravitate towards bipeds more than her fellow canine. She was a total land lover and would never be caught within twenty feet of a pond. She was drawn to her brother and sisters; you could find her every night finding a strategic place to lay that kept her in the middle of their two rooms. She was amazingly content even when being crawled on or over, and loved to be chased around the kitchen (especially if she‘d just stolen your breakfast).
I’m not sure she ever came to grips with the idea that not everyone would want to meet her, or why she wasn’t allowed to eat at the table like the rest of the family. She never met a stranger she didn’t ask for a pet from, and if you obliged she’d quickly turn from you and provide you her good side; butt rubs were her favorite treat (thanks Michelle for starting that in good citizen training).
Later in life she tried her paw at modeling. Her trademark two colored snout sharing the cover of the vet office’s postcards. Her white and brown nose split down the middle, giving her adorable black whiskers on one side and snow white ones on the other. Yet while she loved the attention, she was more comfortable just lying in front of the Christmas tree.
In the end, it didn’t seem fair that her endless love and playfulness be trapped inside an ailing body. We spent our last day doing the things she loved: going on a walk, greeting people at the dog park, and eating treats that included a chocolate dipped ice cream cone.
She is survived by her real parents retired at Cooks Collies, and her fur-less brother and sisters who are taking it fairly well all considered. They have assured Mom and Dad that the best way to ease the pain will be to name the next dog Flurry as well. Mom and Dad however will need a little more time to let our hearts mend before figuring out how large the puppy sized hole will be.

Well ****. RIP Flurry and my condolences to you and your family. Losing a pet sucks and it sucks even more when they are still young.
