If I'm understanding the ACC bracket, if Wake Forest beats Clemson and Pitt beats NC State Saturday, then Pitt would have the 4 seed and a bye to the quarterfinals. So then they'd have to beat one team to get a matchup with UNC or Duke (who also play each other Saturday and for the one seed I think, unless UNC has a tie breaker already).

Would it be better for them to get the 5 seed just for the potential of two ACC tourney wins before having to play Duke/UNC, or do we think their only chance is winning a tourney game against them?

i too am torn over that. you'd think a double bye in the ACC tourney means you're a lock already but... then it's also your best chance to win the ACC tourney. I'm pulling for the 4 seed at the end of the day I guess

At least Pitt is now showing on the braketology thing in the last four out. I don't understand how Clemson's resume has them as a 5 and Pitt way out when there's a pretty good chance they finish higher than them in the ACC. I think just winning that quarterfinal match is enough. Cause I assume that's against Clemson either way in a 4/5 matchup.

Pitt is getting penalized for a lot of roster turnover and injuries that forced them to spend the early part of the season figuring out their rotation and how they want to play. Missouri was a bad loss due to Carrington thinking he was heading to the NBA after the season and starting conference play 1-5 with two not great losses to Syracuse doesn't help. They're easily a tournament team now. Just a matter of how much the committee wants to hold the early issues against them.

It's why I hate all this newfangled RPI bracketology rankings BS. Nerds shouldn't be allowed near sports...they just nerd it all up.

The reason it's called a Selection Committee is because they can, you know, select the teams that should be in the tourney. But these published rankings make it more difficult for them to do that for a team that is say ranked 75th in some stupid nerd ranking.

Pitt is a NCAA tourney team as we speak, with one of the better, more entertaining players going right now. They'd be fools to leave them out.

And I'm not even really a Pitt fan.

This **** is so dumb, but good news nonetheless:

With NC State’s win over Syracuse in the ACC Tournament, the Wolfpack jumped up to No. 73 in the NCAA NET rankings after beginning Wednesday at No. 79. Pitt has beaten NC State twice this season, once at home, and once on the road. The road win over the Wolfpack was bumped up to a Quad 1 win, as any win over a team ranked 1-75 in the NET on the road is a Q1 win. The home win over the Wolfpack moved into the Q2 category from Q3 as well, because every win over a team ranked 31-75 in the NET at home is a Q2 victory.
