It's pretty hilarious and disheartening the time and resources the moronic coaching staff and has spent post KSP to find a QB better than Yarnell and have just completely failed. I wonder where this team would be if they just focused on developing him instead.

Not sure if that was a “good” win but it was certainly encouraging

lol...I actually almost bought tickets and was going to go. Work went too late and there was no chance to happily make it.

Pitt Football Seniors That Walked And Can’t Return for 2024
QB Phil Jurkovec
RB C’Bo Flemister
OL Blake Zubovic and Jake Kradel
TE Malcolm Epps
DL Devin Danielson, Tyler Bentley and David Green
LB Shayne Simon
DB Marquis Williams and A.J. Woods
C'Bo has been fine RB depth and the DL crew have been adequate to good, but the only really impact player here is Williams.
Pitt Football Players Who Walked and Have Eligibility Remaining
WR Bub Means, Josh Junko (WO)
CB M.J. Devonshire
LB Brandon George
OL Matt Goncalves
Goncalves is rumored to have already decided on the draft, otherwise I don't see why any of this crew would leave other than for a change of scenery.
Pitt Players That Did Not Walk and Have Eligibility

DL Nate Temple, Bam Brima, Deandre Jules and Dayon Hayes
DB Buddy Mack II, Dante Caputo (WO)
LB Bangally Kamara
OL Jason Collier Jr. and Ryan Jacoby
TE Karter Johnson
RB Daniel Carter
Safe to assume all these guys are coming back? Yay, I guess? Collier needs to move on with his life's work, but I have no idea where this team would be next season without Carter's one carry per month.

A lot of people have talked about Devonshire like he's gone, and I've heard the same about Goncalves. I think George would come back given how much he's played this year and I'd be fine with that from a depth perspective, but I think he's a little too slow sideline-to-sideline compared to other guys at that position. I hate the idea of someone standing in the way of Bass, Lovelace, and Biles just because he's been here a while. I'll admit that I don't hate the idea of Bub Means being back.

On the DL, I'd like to see Jules & Hayes back. Temple & Brima can move on. Okunlola & Jimmy Scott saw a lot of playing time against BC so that's good to see. Of the rest of the names here, the only ones I hope come back are Kamara & Jacoby.

I'm just ready for some wholesale changes, and I hope what we saw from Yarnell on Thursday night provides a foundation for that. I'm not 100% sold on him but that's the most "in-control" of an offense a Pitt QB has looked since Pickett was here. If they can convince Hammond, Bart, Mumpfield, and Johnson to stick around, that would be a nice start.

I'm going to be really interested to see what happens with the offensive coaching staff after the Duke game.

Yarnell looked liked a starting College QB. Thats a huge victory.
Two things stood out to me:
1. For the most part, he looked comfortable/composed and noticeably went through progressions. He looked like he knew where his receivers were supposed to be.

2. The pump fake to work Means open on the TD was a thing of beauty. Yarnell having the presence of mind to see it there, executing the fake, AND dropping that pass right into Means's hands was something we haven't seen from a Pitt QB since Kenneth Shane Pickett 2021.

I don't want to make too much of it and I think he'll face a tougher defense this weekend, but it was good to see and hopefully it's indicative of good things from Yarnell going forward.

Yarnell has completed 26 collegiate passes. They include

Passes of 39, 37, 19, and 18 against directional Michigan.

One completion on two attempts in the sun bowl. It was for 16 yards to Wayne.

2 completions for 75 yards against nd

36 yarder vs cuse

61 yarder against bc plus 4 more catches of 18 or more.

I don’t know what the hell he does in practice. Maybe he throws lots of interceptions. But half of his passes are for plays of 15+ yards. That seems to be very attractive.

Let's see how he looks when a defense has all week to prepare for him. Remember, we thought Vellieux was the answer after the Louisville game
