LB and DB depth looks questionable. I'm not sure how many of those WRs are even real people. Where the hell did Dorien Ford disappear to?

Hopefully the QB play is good enough to make the WR's a bit better this year. I dunno..it's all a crap shoot, but I swear we have the shortest/tiniest corners in football and will stay play man to man.

Jacoby out for the year
2023-2024 #22 Pitt Super Panthers (Football) Sports Thread
Notes and depth chart thoughts...
1. OL - Narduzzi just announced that despite Ryan Jacoby being listed as a starter, he is out for the year and Jason Collier will start at LG. Narduzzi said they listed Jacoby because he played so well in practice up until the injury. Maybe he was the mystery "out for season" injury he mentioned last week. I expected that to be Rashad Battle but (don't you do it)...Rashad may indeed...(don't do it) BATTLE back and play this year.
*Honks bike horn*
*does the worm*
2. OL note - Jacoby's injury could also get Ryan Baer on the field earlier at guard as well.
3. Jurkovec - Veilleux - Yarnell is pretty much what I expected to see at QB. Nick Patti and his place in Pitt lore is deserved and secure, but I feel so much better about the depth at QB than I did at this time last year. I think Veilleux is going to be really good for this program down the road and he should be more than capable if Jurkovec gets hurt or doesn't play as expected.
4. RB also as expected. Hopefully Davis contributes more as he picks up the playbook.
5. WR - As expected, all four true freshmen are in the top nine and from comments at Narduzzi's press conference, it doesn't appear there's much that separates any of them from Daejon Reynolds. I'm really looking forward to seeing this group.
6. Three "ORs" listed as the TE opposite Bart so that's encouraging. Epps is an absolutely gigantic dude, so I think we'll see a lot of him in the red zone.
7. DL - No major complaints here. Still a bit surprised to see Temple starting ahead of Brima/Scott, but Scott is also just a redshirt freshman and I think he'll play. It's a good problem to have. Partridge has more than earned the benefit of the doubt with his lineups. I just really hope the five younger kids stay in the mix.
8. LB - The only real surprise here to me is Lapi (just put on scholarship last week) finishing ahead of Bass. That said, Narduzzi said they're teaching Bass all three positions so they may be bringing him along a little more slowly.
9. DB - No surprises, I guess, other than Williams and Woods splitting at one CB. Nevertheless, that's a pretty good top three. Safeties are young and they'll make mistakes, but McIntyre is a ballhawk & a good tackler. The only slight concern I have is with O'Brien, Jr. He's a good player but he sometimes gets a little too close to "Paris Ford" levels of emotional.
10. KR/PR - Means, Woods and Dietrich Jel...Che Nwabuko should be fun on kicks that actually get returned, if that still happens. I kind of wish someone other than a starting corner and WR1 would have won the PR job but we'll see.
Anyway, I'm excited and the players? They're excited too.

It wouldn’t be a CB97HCPN depth chart if it didn’t include at least one person with a debilitating injury or someone that has been deported or something
