I think ultimately that's how baseball should be played. With pacing and rhythm.

It's awesome. I've said it before, I went to a game in Altoona last year and the clock was such a breath of fresh air.

Broadcasters probably love it, think of how much less dead air joe block will have to fill

The pitch clock has been around the minor leagues since 2015. The vast majority of major leaguer experienced a pitch clock in their pro careers. It chaffs my ass to see these guys farting around the mound and in the box knowing that they were able to function in AA with a pitch clock.

I gave up on the Pens and switched to the Bucs and Mitch looking good after 2. Hopefully what we'll see this season.

Cruz batting .300 2hr in 20ab 2ks!
NickG 6/15 1hr
TSwag 5/15 2hr
Endy 5/14 3dbls
Maggi 7/13 2hr lol

A few guys are respectable

Mitchell, Castro, Suwinski, Santana

The rest looking variously awful

Starting pitchers looking pretty good. Bullpen mostly bad. Young prospect starters looking quite good

Fangraphs flagged cruz as a breakout candidate this year

Basically even if he improves his contact rate to below average, he would be an elite hitter

Cool to see, as Lanny called in him his first season, Young Don Robinson on today's broadcast.

His first year was something else and he was the best hitting pitcher I've seen on the Bucs.

What are yinz willing to pay a month to watch the Pirates (and Pens) if both become standalone streaming options?

I think we might see $20/month but less than that if you subscribe for the complete season. If more than $20 I might think twice.

It’ll probably be like 30-40 month. I imagine it being a subscription I am constantly cancelling and resetting

I'm not willing to pay the $60/mo for Fubo. So it has to be significantly less than that. I think $25 is probably where I start to think about it. This is for the Pens. You couldn't pay me to watch a Pirates broadcast.

Lifting the blackout restriction from NHL.tv would be best. Although with the underlying network and production team gone that doesn't exactly work cleanly. I think that's $49.99 a month and you get, what, almost every NHL game? The streaming cost for one NHL game needs to be a fraction of that.

I would pay a lot but only if it worked perfectly and wouldn't spoil the score and would let me access it up to 3 days later. Does Fubo do something like that? Because I'd pay $60 a month rather than the $120 or whatever I pay for cable

Cocaine Mitch your opening day starter.

And not a chance in hell I'm paying $20/month for Penguins or Pirates games. Would immediately be in the upper tier for most expensive streaming providers despite the incredibly limited programming.

On a per hour basis I think I'd get more value out of having every Pens game available than I get from HBO Max, Showtime, or even Netflix. I dumped ESPN+ when it went over $11/month but that's because I was only using it for golf.

Normalize that over a year and it's even cheaper, if you're comparing head to head. (Assuming you can unsub during the offseason)

Kind of the opposite of "limited programming"

i'd just buy the whole nhl.tv and mlb.tv package if it's 20/mo because thats $120 just for one team. $10 a month and I buy Pens or Pirates

How is it the opposite of limited programming? Netflix has thousands of garbage shows and movies and my disposal for $20/month. Paying $20/month to watch 15ish Pens games would be ridiculous. Regardless, I'll just continue using my $60/year VPN to change my location and watch Pens games through my like $8/month ESPN+ prescription.
